Any links to those "unofficial" Samurai lists or some home brew rules? I'm starting an army for the Sengoku Jidai era. I think FoG would be a great rules set to game this time in history. I'd like to get away from the idea of heroic challenges, bit unrealistic for that time I think. Not sure on firearms and how the would fit into the rule system. Armies at that time where made up of mostly spear men anyway, guns where a small, but powerful, part of most forces. A standard army list would look something like this "10% samurai cavalry , 10% ashigaru w/ guns, 10% ashigaru with bows, 25% ashigaru w/ pike, 25% ashigaru w/ spear, 5% samurai w/ bow, 15% samurai w/ spear" -
from Uesugi Kenshin over at TMP. This would be just a starting point with clan/army specialties like, more guns for Oda, more cavalry for Takeda, and warrior monks for the Ikko-Ikki, ect. The historic scenarios in the PC game
Shogun Total War are great resource for force composition and battlefield layouts as well.
My first post, be kind
