I'm having trouble with the game freezing. It will usually run fine for about 20 mins (approx) but then the mouse locks up and the game freezes. The music still plays but the mouse won't move. The fan on my GPU also spins down quite a bit. Sounds like a threading issue to me.
I have windows 10 64 bit, GTX 560ti, 6 GB RAM. I've tried running it in windowed mode and also forced OpenGL. No difference, it still freezes.
GeForce driver version 364.72 (28/03/2016)
Any ideas?

Re: Game freezes
site or steam version, not that it matters as there both 1.02 atm
How to get a DxDiag report file:
1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8 )
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments (zip) rather than pasted into the body of the post.
add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program, to make sure check the logs of these to see if it was one if any of them was to blame.
That usually means a 3rd party program, like an Internet security programs, is or could be interfering with the game or update installation.
run the game from a admin account and use full admin permissions.
please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.
please make sure you are running the latest game version and have up to date drivers installed on your pc,
If you have the original version. So you'll need to update it from the Internet.
Please note that you'll only need the last update, as the updates are comprehensive. (not needed with steam)

Re: Game freezes
Hi
Steam version.
I have attached dxdiag and also a relevant error from the windows application event log. I haven't seen anything in the antivirus logs.
Not had a chance to try the other suggestions yet.

Re: Game freezes
thanks.
Creative drivers aren't signed or windows 10 tested and older, not sure if they will do a windows 10 driver either
unplug and try to play with as little extra hardware that's needed, unplug joystick or pads etc and see if that makes it any more stable
ELBY CLONEDRIVE SCSI CdRom Device driver? old version or windows 10 compatible? clone driver are known to cause or can cause problems with some games, not saying this is one of them mind you, but have had some issues myself with them in the past...
the only error's in your logs and game and defender scan logs, so something hardware or software wise is playing up, try running in safe mode as that disables almost all by default and see if it's more stable, then find out what you have auto loaded at start and test one by one to disable and see which one the game doesn't like working with, as it will be a conflict somewhere, but where is the problem i'm sorry to say.

Re: Game freezes
OK, I think I have this sussed, at least the cause. I don't think it's my drivers, I uninstalled both the creative and virtual DVD drivers and used the Realtek audio. Game still freezes. I have many games, and not a single problem with any of them.
My PC sometimes decides to minimise games when they are running. It did it on Win 7 and retains that behaviour in Win 10. I don't know what causes it, I've never been able to figure that out. I think that's what is causing the freezing. Most games I have don't care, but I think Polaris Sector has an issue when the minimise event occurs.
I've found that if I have another window open when I run Polaris Sector, the game will instead switch to the other window periodically; I can then switch back to the game (by clicking on it) and it doesn't freeze. So I appear to have a workaround, which is good enough.
Thanks

Re: Game freezes
Please disable the Steam overlay and check if the issue persists.
Re: Game freezes
Seems to have fixed it. Thanks very much.
