Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
Although not directed at me I will answer Rudankort in so far as it applies.
I have installed Soviet Corps through Steam, I assume as always Steam updates patches as it goes(?)
I have tried 43 Campaign this morning, fine for a while then it froze for a moment and became slow to respond after that with slow response to unit movements, i.e., click, pause, it moves exactly as the title of this thread.
I check memory usage while this occurred, 473mb. I have 24mbs of memory on board plus a 2 gig AMD video card.

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
Same issue. I have pretty powerfull computer and had zero troubles with the game until soviet corps dlc. I am currently at GC 40 and after 2-3 turns scrolling, units select etc became slower and slower. Full game restart help for 2-3 turns and then the same problem occurs.

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
At least we know it's not our computers at fault, I had been performing diagnostics and was about to do a full system clean install, thanks for posting those with the same issue as me.
I agree everything was fine till I installed Soviet Corps, so that would seem to be the issue.

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
I report the same issue.
Playing through steam, game lags more and more after several turns, i noticed that the game is then already taking 815 Mb of memory.
When i quit the game and then restart, load savegame, then the game takes 450 Mb of memory; making the game playable again for a couple of turns.

Niki, have you ever seen this behavior with the beta version? I'm confused, as the beta does not differ from release in any way....

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
Applying a bit of logic from the posts so far.............
Is it something in Steam that's the unknown niggling factor here?
I was not in beta testing, but that would surely not have been done through Steam.
Just my thoughts about pinning the tail on the donkey.

So, all your guys have the Steam version of the game?
Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
yes, also this is reported on steam forums http://steamcommunity.com/app/268400/di ... 914638892/VPaulus wrote:Beta was done through Steam.smokeybear wrote:

Could you please try to run the Steam client as an administrator?
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -ifhz-2170
Also, if you have installed in Program Files (x86)\Steam\..... could you please install the game in a different Steam library folder (like for example C:\Games\Steam\....)?
For on how to add a Steam library folder please check the following site:

Not at all, i was even playing a couple of GC DLCs while the beta was running.Rudankort wrote:Niki, have you ever seen this behavior with the beta version? I'm confused, as the beta does not differ from release in any way....
Perhaps noteworthy, although not entirely sure it has something to do with it, i had two updates of the steam client this week.

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
I started to notice a little bit of slowness today, but I didn't play for very long anyway for different reasons.
Considering that this seems to have started within the past few days, and since the last patch was on February 18th, perhaps this is due to the latest Steam Client update?
http://store.steampowered.com/news/?feed=steam_client
I know the latest update says Feb 2nd, but it says that a new version was released on March 1st with the addition:
"Fixed crash on game launch for some older 2D games, including Plants vs. Zombies"
Just a thought that perhaps this has to do with the apparently new issue.

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
I have lag/slow down on the map too and my computer is pretty good.
It was very surprising. Game is still played though but there is something fishy in the code.

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
I posted the issue in another thrread but it belongs here
My symptoms are the same - game starts fine but after about 15 minutes or so the framerate gets slower and slower and slower until its nearly unplayable. After 15 mins, the below all start to happen and get progressively worse:
Scrolling the screen will result in a delay of up to 5 seconds - as will selecting any unit
Units actually moving starts to look jumpy
When awarding heroes, instead of getting the notification screen, the game will hang for a second, then flash the award screen for a split second and go back to the map - you only know you have a hero because the dot appears under the unit.
AI moves become very laggy too - and retreats just show units immediately teleport from one hex to an adjacent hex
This happens on all maps I have played but is particularly noticable and gameplay affecting from Sealion 40 onwards (I can only do 1 turn of Moscow 41 before having to restart the game) - however this may be because my play of Sealion 40 was after a Steam update
Restarting the game properly (Close and re-enter) fixes the problems for 15 mins before they start again.
So far I have tried:
I done a test where I started Moscow 41 and just left the game open for 20 minues doing nothing (no unit moves etc), as I went out to the shops and came back. The lag was present when I returned so does not appear to be a player action causing this.
Completely uninstalled both my hard copy of Panzer Corps (Got it on disk before it was on Steam) and my Steam copy in case there was a conflict (They were on different hard drives). Restarted my PC and reinstalled only the Steam copy - issue still persisted (Cannot test the CD version)
PC specs and performance are not an issue - Im running 16GB RAM, 6-core 3.3GHz CPU and GeForce 730 graphics card - very much overkill for Panzer Corps! (On WIn 7 Pro 64-bit). NO extra background tasks are running.
The game behaves as if it is leaking memory or computer is running out of system resource, but its resource use within task manager does not go out of control (Panzer corps is not sucking all actual resource available), and PC is fine otherwise, I can open other stuff easily even with Panzer Corps running - it is only Panzer Corps that slows down.
Until 1.25 I never had an issue with the game ever - think its one of the few games I have had thats never crashed, certainly very stable. This issue has ONLY started after installation of 1.25 (I do not have Soviet Corps but do have AK and AC)
I have not made any real system changes since before 1.25
I have no mods
If it is a serious issue that needs fixed, is there an option to roll back to the previous update? I only ask as 1.25 is making tis otherwise great game unplayable

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
Oh wow, my thread's getting taken over! =p (Nah, it's cool).
Anyway, GC '40 slowdown happened;
I upped the task manager here's the stats:
With Slowdown: 358 memory / 13% CPU usage when idling.
Without slowdown: 450 memory / 0.1% CPU usage when idling.
It is pretty obvious when it happens, everything is sticky.

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
Performance should not be an issue on any modern machine.
I think, we have ruled out the possibility of a memory problem - all memory statistics reported so far look fine. There is no obvious connection to the version of Windows - various versions have been reported.
Do I understand correctly that all problems reported so far are related to Steam version? If yes, can any of you guys test with "normal" version?

Re: Performance Issue: Massive slow down/hanging.
Use the 4GB patch to enable 4GB memory for the app on 64Bit Windows:
http://ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php
Patch the PanzerCorps.exe and try again. If you still have slowdowns, run PanzerCorps.exe with /nocache parameter (create a shortcut and add it there)
