Index additions requested

Post by shall »

This tream has been set up so that people can post things they tried to look up inthe index and didn't find. That way we can hand them over as additions to be made when there is a reprint.

Please put the item in here along with the page number where you eventually found what you were looking for (assuming you found it)

e.g. Scythed Chariots 120

Thanks

Second Moves. p.75.

This was easy to find from the contents at the front of the book. The first place I looked was the index at the back though, first for "second moves", then under "movement", then under "commanders".

I would not want to raise anyones expectations that there are any plans for a reprint of the rules in the forseeable future

But no doubt some enterprising person will at some point produce an improved index.

Threatened Flank p 136
or maybe
Flank, Threatened p136.

Saw this modifier and Rear Support both on the charts the first time we played and niether I nor my opponent who had both read the rules remembered seeing any rules for either one in the book. Our first (and second and third) thoughts were to check the index and leaf through the rules looking for what we'd missed. Checking the glossary came 10 minutes later. I guess its a very reasonable place to look for the definition of a game term, but it seems like Rear Support and threatened flanks both have 'RULES' in their glossary entry - they are not just a restatement of something from the main rules - and it would be really nice to have all rules information indexed.

Thanks,
Imanfasil

This is a very useful thread. I will see what I can find, I have been amazed by some of the obvious things that have been missing.

Not interested in a reprint of the rules book, i already have a copy, but if someone does up an improved pdf index I would deffinitely print it and stick in the back of my rules, excellent idea that man

Major omissions:

Disorder (page 26 and 132, and in the combat charts for modifiers)
Disruption
Fragmentation

Subsequent checking (about five minutes random looking)

Capabilities and all of the definitions of this - bow, firearm, offensive spearmen, etc.
Type (p16 under In Summary - 5 qualifiers) - types are listed under 'Troop types' but not Type on its own even though this is listed as a qualifier on p16.

Mentioned under Troop types, but not in their own right, although Armour, Training and Quality are:
Foot (p 14) - Artillery is mentioned here but p14 is not referenced under Artillery in the index
Mounted (p 14)

Generally speaking the index does not seem set up to allow you to track down the references to the core definitions in the rules as examples above.

This is based on checking out 'disorder' for some posts about elephants and camels, but then a five minute check on random pages of the book produced the ones above.

Hope this helps.

Section missing from Shooting Phase chapter

Post by martindneiluk »

The Section "Resolving Shooting" is missing from the shooting phase chapter.

Just look at the RHS coloured bookmark in every other page in that chapter and you will see it listed, but it ain't there.

Maybe I have a rogue copy (unlikely), or I'm blind as a bat (more likely). But how did we get along without it for so long?

At the end of the shooting chapter it says:

See the Combat Mechanism section for RESOLVING SHOOTING

Hi, I was wondering if it would be OK with you guys if I wrote a "FoG Encyclopaedia" like my "DBM Encyclopaedia", or perhaps you would consider writing one yourselves?

Not exactly index, but the chart for terrain at the back of the book has full names for the pieces, the one inside has just the first letter. Surely they should be the same?

Entries for "close combat-defined p 134", "close combat-references", and "melee-references" would be useful. There is no definition of "in melee" but the references would help people sort it out. Likewise the references to close combat, as recent and recurrent discussion threads show.

I've searched often enough, but didn't make a list.
