Realistic unit names

Post by HalfLifeExpert »

I've had CTGW for roughly a week now, and I very much enjoy it.

I love that I can give units a custom name, but I wanted to ask for some advice/opinions as to what would be realistic names to give units in terms of their scale.

For example, Would I name regular infantry units Armies (i.e. First Army) or Corps (I.e. III Corps). A couple of units that arrive by events effectively name themselves, such as the Canadian Corps.

Then what would be an appropriate name for Garrison units?

Here is a rough idea that I would like to share and get some input on, and I don't have ideas for all unit types

Infantry=Army or Corps
Garrison=Reserve/Conscript Division or Corps
Artillery=Artillery Division
Cavalry= Cavalry Corps
Fighter= Fighter Regiment
Bomber= Bomber Regiment
Airship= Airship Regiment
Submarine= Flotilla
Cruiser= Squadron
Battleship=Fleet

I don't have ideas at this time for any armored units or railway guns

Where all units are recruited/deployed in a 10 count they are pretty much a corps size, naval units would be fleets. The scale of these units do not necessarily represent historical proportions, so do what you may to satisfy your own eye...

LOL. Unfortunately this is painfully accurate.

For Garrison units maybe just call them Reserve?

Ex: 3rd Bavarian Infantry Division(Reserve)
