General Question
I am getting back into the game after a year or so layoff, I have the afrika Korps and allied Corps, would buying the grand campaign mega pack add a lot more to the game?
I usually play the full campaign, I wasn't sure if that would add more variety with more maps that could be played in the full campaign...
Thanks for the info

Re: General Question
The grand campaign adds a lot of variety and very unusual missions. But it is also extremely difficult in comparison to the regular campaign (think playing USA West Coast 40 times in a row!).
I can easily recommend '39 to '41, as these were heaps of fun, but the later years are more of a chore than anything else!
You should also check out the mods section - there is a lot of great content (especially the stuff I made
), and at a very good price as well: $0.00.

Thx, I only play it on an IPad unfortunately, so I guess I am stuck buying those extra scenarios and don't get to enjoy all the mods by you and others I have been reading about. Thx for quick answers.

Re: General Question
If you start off in '39 in the GC and go through '41 I think you'll have trouble stopping at that point (if for some odd reason you're not enjoying the game you'll probably have quit long before then). So I'd say just go ahead & go with the full GC. In my opinion, things really don't start going downhill until Stalingrad - fittingly so I guess. Still, whether by trial & error or reading ahead in these forums, you can develop some strategies to get you through most scenarios. Hope you'll give it a shot & good luck.

Re: General Question
You guys are really scaring me.
I am in 1942 Campaign right now, and it is getting tougher, but I am far from being destroyed.
I can't imagine wanting to give up once I get past Stalingrad.
I am going the distance.
At least in the East, it will be a while before I hit the West, except for Sealion as I am in the middle of that one as well.
Everything will take a back seat once the Multiplayer Contest is going.

Re: General Question
43 East and 44 West are the most difficult, but more for the catastrophic draining of prestige (more in upgrading units in this critical period) than defeating the enemy. There are a cluster of battles in 43 and 44 that are draining (Oboyan anyone?). Under the up-to-date new rules settings you are penalized for having lots of expensive units AND you are spending more for overstrength and fighting harder Soviet units. so unless you have over 80,000 prestige by Stalingrad, you are doomed to having a weak army (no overstrength and using captured units with low experience) by the end of 45. And even if you win Berlin with that army and get the 15,000 prestige, you will not have enough to upgrade units and overstrength to win Berlin Redux.
Re: General Question
Hello, I just purchased PC+ Mega Pack. I had a friend load (USB stick) the game for me because I don't have but 10 gigs per month. I forgot about patches, do I need to load any patches?
Looks like I am running 1.14, do I need patch 1.24?
Ah, You guys are good! I simply enter game and check for updates...Nice
Only thing, I always have to load from the server?
Looks like I am maxed out...have to wait 10 days before I can load the patch
Small patch my arse, takes two hours to load!

Re: General Question
Is there any reason why I can't place newly purchased units on the board?
Playing the Allies in Bocage breakout/low countries, I can not place units. I don't see a (highlighted) deployment area?
Yes I have money, yes I can purchase (max units)...just not place?
What is the spotting distance of a city?
See opponents turn; I can only see the center of the screen (no action)... Any way to view the entire board?
Would be great if they had a replay of the entire turn...really help in learning the game.
I see nothing, I know nothing...really sucks.

I believe you are running into 3 things that could be preventing you from being able to place new units.
1) You just took the city last turn or the last turn. (You need to possess the city 2 turns before you can build, or 1 full turn.
2) You have an enemy ground unit adjacent to your city. (you cannot build if that is the case)
3) You possess that particular city with a different nationality than the one you are trying to build with. (Such as you are trying to build a German unit on an Italian held city.
I am assuming it is probably the first one.
Spotting for a city you possess is 1. It can see anything directly in front of it.
You should be able to see your opponents turn, unless they have set it up so they cannot see it. Ask your opponent.
I like to see the opponents turn because it is like watching a movie and can be just heartbreaking as you watch your units get destroyed.

Re: General Question
I see, I did not check to see if it was a different nationality.
But I do assume it was a game glitch, being that I could not build from the get-go. I am sure either one of my allies would have had a building spot (from the start). I resigned (5 turns later) the game, due to the fact that I could not build.
As far as view opponents turn;I can only see the middle of the game board while viewing opponents turn. The screed does not follow opposing units move/attack.
Somethings going on...I just can't see it...unless it is in the middle of the game board.
Also; I notice my air units move in a completely different pattern than what it tells me will be the designated route.
Example: troop transport (plane) shows a pre-path movement arrow going completely on the edge of the screen, rounding the corner. Then when I have my curser on the hex in which I have chosen to move...WHAM!...the plane does not follow the pre-path designator (only troop transports)???
Real bummer thinking your transport is following the edge of the board (which it shows) only to have it cut diagonally across the board.
Question: is it at all possible to manipulate the movement path...Unit moving into hexes I designate (would be real, would be real nice)?

I'm not sure about this one. If you have slots and prestige you should be able to build, so I am not sure about this.

It does appear it could be a glitch, you might try reinstalling it or if you are playing on an Ipad thingy I here it is glitch and that is unfortunate.
Question: is it at all possible to manipulate the movement path...Unit moving into hexes I designate (would be real, would be real nice)?
Unfortunately this is something that is just part of the game.
Now ground units will always follow the path it shows, but planes will always take the shortest distance between their starting point and where you want to go, something about wanting to conserve fuel.
If it is a game glitch, should I post it or not bother being that nobody else has complained, so late in the game. More than one scenario where I could not build. Maybe somebody created scenario?
What is the scenario again, maybe I could check it out to see if it is how the scenario is set up or a game glitch.

Re: General Question
Hi Waltero, in these two scenarios you can only place units near their own flag. And in both these scenarios, there are no British flags on the map, so you cannot place British units until you have captured a city with them (a very difficult task). So in Bocage breakout, you should be able to place US units only, and in Low Countries, only Belgian and French. Also, you cannot place units next to a city that you just captured, you have to wait a few turns, and you cannot place units next to a city that has an enemy unit next to it.Waltero wrote:Is there any reason why I can't place newly purchased units on the board?
