I (Jap) played last week together with skyrider (US) the scenario Wake Island 1941. I know from the postings that Eric generally design the Scenarios next to the historical basis. On the bottom line a wonderfull approach. But in this case we were surprised about the disproportion between US and Jap units. We all know, that In 1941 no US carrier appeared to defend Wake Island because they scarificed the Island.
Of course this is not an option for a balanced game but the actual issue advantage the US too much. In my point it is sufficient when they get two carriers and less DD's and CA's. I would appreciate when there is a chance to fix it by the designer.
Maybe there are some other readers which can post their view to this topic. I hope that I can move something.
Have fun!

The US held the carriers back in fear of losing them. Remember, this was before the Japanese setback in the Coral Sea.
But the carriers were available, so this a plausible what-if scenario.
And without the US carriers there would not be much of a game left
If you think the US are too powerful, it is easy to remove units in the editor. Takes about 3 seconds.
Or you can add a bit to the Japanese, reports about US carriers make them add another Japanese carrier.
Maybe I should play this scenario as the Japanese to test the balance...

Thanks for your swift answer. I tested the editor option and it works well. I can arrange the start up formation in any way a I like it. So far so good but I have saved the adjusted scenario on the hard disk of my own computer.
I'm not sure but how can I share this new Wake Island scenario with other gamers because it is a multiplayer game. No doubt about it. Do I have the rights to save it on the slitherine server? I don't think so that would be a mess. Are there any other legal option?
Thanks for a further advice by you.

The only legalities you'll encounter is to credit me with the original scenario design somewhere in the briefing.
And you of course need to make it available for free
Save in with a suitable name.
I think the OOB community can only benefit from more scenarios to choose from.

One variant that reduces the US carrier air power a bit, would be to replace one of the carriers with the proposed hybrid carrier/cruiser San Francisco.
This was her intended role, somewhat similar to the Japanese Ise hybrid carrier/battlecruiser. You could use that unit as a (somewhat stronger) substitute.
An extra cool thing would be to randomize if the fleet carrier or the hybrid was deployed or the US get only one carrier.
I'm not sure how to set that up with triggers/events though. Maybe adherbal can show us.
