Swordsmen/superior swordsmen

Post by Brennos »

Hi all,
I meant to ask this but I do feel a little bit stupid.... Here it is :
Swordsmen. Ok. Makes sense. (as a side note let me congratulate the team, it took some time for this whole combat system to grow on me but now I find it almost flawless)
so, on to swordsmen. Does it actually mean swordsmen, or is it just a generic name for all those kind of close combat weapons. Say I use a unit of really good axemen, khopesh or warclub wielders, are they getting swordsmen too, or do they need actual swords? I'm asking this as I don't have much source books yet.
Thanks yall
Brennos

Yes, it is meant to encompass melee weapons comparable in the way they were used to a sword (so axe, mace,... come to mind but not Rhompaia or great axe as these are heavy weapons).
Though I agree it is not overly clearly stated in the definition of swordmen/skilled swordman in the rulebook (page 130)
