Update: We will be using pre-set terrain to speed games up as most players will be new. I will also be running a demo / participation / learning game during the final session.

Craig Dobbins Memorial Ancients Tournament - Dallas July 12
Moderators: philqw78, terrys, hammy, Ghaznavid, Slitherine Core, Field of Glory Moderators, Field of Glory Design
Here are the result of the tournament:
Phil Malthus Aragonese 68 Points
Marty Wolverton Kommenan Byz 51 points
SCott Clinton Alex Macedonian 39 points
Monty Walls Lydian 35 points
Steve Daniels Seleucid 27 points
Lance Gamble Foderati Roman 5 points
Marty only went down to Phil in the first round (this game was very
close), meaning that the medieval armies swept the field against their
classical counterparts.
Terrain was pre-set and with 3.5 hours rounds EVERY game finished.
Most games finished inside 2.0 to 2.5 hours, with only a couple going
the full duration. Most players only had around 6 games under their
belts before the tournament, and I believe this was the first FOG
tournament for them all.
Monty and Scott had an interesting game in which all the Lydian
Hoplites and Pike Phalanx were destroyed by the end of the game.

Lance played at Bayou Wars.

Ooops, yes, so his second. although I bet he doesn't take Foederati again. I think it's not very good....Just my opinion though and mostly because I think the unarmored impact foot have a tough time. If they don't win big on impact they don't last long enough for the Cav to work.
How many rounds was the event?

3 rounds.

Sounds like a fun tourney. Good idea to use pre-selected terrain. I like the terrain rules for FoG but they can take some time, depending on the players and the armies.IanB3406 wrote:Here are the result of the tournament:

How many points were the armies at and what was the table size?
How many points were the armies at and what was the table size?----
650 points, selected as it's relatively new game. The table size was 6'X4', but this was narrowed down on most tables. One table had a River, One a waterway, and one some impassable terrain on a flank. This was done on purpose as I thought it fit the army size better. Could have done this on a 5'X4' as well. The 4 tables were planned as 2 Medium density, 1 Open and 1 heavy density with respect to terrain. With 6 players this meant one table was not used each round and no one was stuck on the same table (table draw was random but I think it just ended up that way). Winner of initiative got to pick the side and moved second.
I am also relatively happy with the terrain set up rules, but unless all players are very familiar with the steps and terrain types it will add about 30 minutes to each game. I hope as we get more familiar with the rules it will go faster.
