How does SE replacements work on the ipad

So I'm now about half way through GC 40 on my iPad and I know that the SE unit max for this campaign is 3. I however only have one and can not seem to get any more. I've even tried starting the same mission multiple times to see if it would grant me one.m I think I tried about 20 times. Alas I was not granted one. Am I missing something? When I played this on pc I usually maxed out on SE units at the very beginning of each campaign. I can't seem to get it to work right on the iPad though. Any help would be great

I play on iPad and have not experienced the problem you describe, so it is not a function of the program itself. Could be a corrupted installation, or it could just be bad luck--if you flipped a coin over and over again, you would sometimes get an unusual number of heads or tails in a row. One other thought: are you restarting from "restart scenario," or from the last turn of the previous scenario? Whichever you did, try the other, and see if that makes a difference.

They work the same way as the PC. A suggestion when you are about to capture your last victory hex or meet victory conditions, save your game. When you proceed to the next scenario if you don't get an SE unit, reload the saved game and try again.

Thanks guys. I thought they cam AFTER the deployment phase so that's where I was trying the reload trick. Like you two said they come BEFORE the deployment phase so saving the game on the last play from the previous map and reloading worked great

When you start a scenario, if you have a vacant SE unit slot, there is a 30% chance of getting another one. It isn't influenced by whether you got a DV or MV or loss, and shouldn't be affected by whether you are on ipad or PC.

I've had a run of 7 games (maybe 9 - it was a long time ago) where I didn't get an SE unit, so I checked the odds to see how (un)likely this was. Surprisingly, the odds, while not that great are at low (probably fractional) percentage level, rather than almost impossible. If you care to look there's some discussion on this in the forum somewhere.

The only other way to get SE units in the standard games is through some special reward units in Afrika Korps and through the cheat code (if you activate the code "all eqp" you can buy any unit, but as a PC user I can't say how to activate the cheat codes on other devices). Some of the mods have reward or capturable SE units and I have come across at least one mod where you can get a standard unit converted into an SE one.
