Since patch, game won't start (Steam)

Game will not start. I get the launcher, click play and nothing. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, rebooted and nothing. Started today after patch. I'm running windows 7 x64

yes you can if you wish, i'll help you there as well, or can leave it for someone else to pick up if you like?

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows

3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.

All game pre requisite are installed with the game as well, none you said no to as steam would have tried to reinstall them again on a reinstall?

as your spec is the same almost down to tea with one of my test pc's that runs it's fine tbh.

is there anything in event viewer logs in windows?

just type in google (insert your AV program and firewall here) logs for both if you not sure how to check them, eg

is steam being run from a admin account and run as a administrator?

I run Steam on my admin account (main). Really frustrated with this. Game was running fine before patch. Nothing shows up in event viewer or AV logs.

ok one more try,

uninstall, make sure folder is wiped / cleaned afterwards, so no traces of program is left, i use uninstall then a free program called ccleaner, and clean registry as well afterwards, it has windows xp / 7 / 8 and 10 m/s certs so is safe

reboot.

double check again nothing is left, as some files are in

C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Catrabbit\Heroes Of Normandie\" where "Username" is your Windows username. This Username folder appears just as that in your Windows Explorer. (delete Catrabbit folder and contents)

if you installed to the default place that is.

then reinstall the game, but tick box not to update to latest version as shown in this link... old but still correct, two version, both do same thing tbh.

as it's only on this game, all others won't be effected, and can be changed back at will anyway, make sure game installs everything else all pre requisites etc then play...

does it now work?

if yes post one screen with this post below it and the version number running and then will proceed with the next question of why it then doesn't with a update etc

Its working now. Don't know what I did. Should be noted that there was no way to prevent game from updating. Shows version 1.21

Hi,

Today when I wanted to play HoN, nothing happened after I cliked PLAY, just a little blue circle with a running white dot. After a while I got a msg saying : Steam client Bootstrapper not working ! I did uninstall the game a few times and rebotted too etc etc. No go, I either got the same msg or an other msg saying that the game is already running but can not play it anyway. I had the same problem with the last patch but succeded to make it work, not this time. I am ruuning under Windows 10. Any other suggestions ?

you can't have multiply copies of the app / program running, ctr alt del and exit the dual processors, if it doesn't work first time and you try it again, you will have 2 copies loaded, it won't work with a 3rd try either until the 2 other ones are taken from the task manager, good luck

Well, it is working now...

Deleted the game last night, went to bed, reloaded the game this morning, run it and surprise, it worked right away. Is it an one day SNAFU ? I am now up to date with my back log of on line games. Cheers
