Arab Bd(F)

Post by carlos »

There used to be quite a few of these in DBM. What has become of them? Phased out by historical evidence? I guess so. Any suggestions on what I can use them as in FoG? For your reference they are 3/4 to a 40 x 20mm stand, holding small shields and swords. Sort of Islamic sword&buckler men really!

What was their historical name in DBM, not their grading? They could probably be used as that in FoG, unless there were very few in the army, then they may have dissappeared

There are a number of Arab armies that get various medium foot, normally light spear only so hardly supertroops but potentially worth having.

Alternatively you could look to rebase. Bear in mind there are several more Arab armies due in the Byzantine book before too long.

No problem rebasing as they aren't based at the moment anyway. It's just that the figures aren't very good for Def/Off spearmen purposes, so I was wondering what was on the pipeline for Arab armies in the future.

Aha, fishing are we..... ;)

If they are unbased then I suspect that they would be suitable as part of the foot component of an Arab Comquest army. The Arab conquest foot warriors made a lot of use of the sword after all. I will not however reveal what they are classed as apart from they aren't going to be medium foot.

There have been rumours that there are going to be a few arab armies with Armoured Defensive Spearmen.

However, when I asked Nik Gaukroger, he was more interested in discussing bow cases....

No surprise there then.

Wasn't really fishing to be honest. Just wondering whether these should go on ebay or not :)

It really depends on how many you have. They would definitely fit nicely as part of the infantry force in an Arab Conquest army although you might want to add a few other different ones.

Mix them in with the spearmen - Arab "spearmen" include a lot of swordwork its just that spearmen gets the right result.

Crossing my fingers here...

In 15mm figures I have 48 bases of the little bleeders based as Wb(S) (15mm depth base four to a base). And four generals Wb(S) bases. Please oh no not rebasing them all

Otherwise watch out for a large Arab Conquest DBM army on ebay

You will I think be fairly happy with Arab Conquest heavy foot in FoG. They are a bit different to the norm.
