A Couple of Game Play Oddities

Post by Raffaello »

Hello!

My friend and I have recently started playing P&S:C. The other day while playing an online game he noticed he was missing a few units. Most of them, not all, showed up later in a Flank March. Thing is, I picked Open Battle as the type, and confirmed it on the Multiplayer challenge screen. Why would this happen? IS there an option to do this yourself while deploying?

Secondly, in MP games, as the first player, I will deploy my forces, hit the end turn button once and it will end my turn. The second player will deploy, but when he hits the end turn button it allows him to then move. Is this a feature of the game, or an error? An advantage to going second?

I've looked around for answers but have yet to find any. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

There is a small % chance that one side will have a flank march even in "open battles".

Not sure about the turn sequence thing, although I doudt its an error.

I notice in the manual it says:

"5.1.6.
Send Flank March
You have decided to send part of your forces on a flank march, to
catch the enemy at a disadvantage. Alternatively he might over-
run you before they arrive.
There is no scenario selection to make the enemy send a
flank march, but they may choose to do so in any of the other
scenario types."

Can you choose to send a flank march yourself in any other scenario in MP games?

No. And your opponent has no control over whether a flank march is sent either.

Not much of an advantage. Someone has to go first! The second player can't see the enemy army until after he has deployed, and he won't be able to fire his artillery on his first turn.

Doing it this way saves returning the game to the opponent before the first turn is done, thus expediting the game.
