Can someone translate DBMM into FOG for me.

Post by flameberge »

I'm looking at a "Hun army under Atilla" for sale but in the description I dont know what the notations mean in FOG. They are the following: 1 x IrrCv(S) , 2 x IrrCv(S) , 2 x IrrLH(S) , 3 x IrrKn(F) , 40 x IrrLH(S) , 4 x IrrKn(F) , 4 x IrrPs(S) , 12 x IrrWb(S) , 12 x IrrWb(O). Also what FOG book would I find this army in? Thanks for any help.

A second army I'd like translated is a Medieval French army: 3 x IrrKn(S) , 12 x IrrKn(S) , 10 x IrrBw(i) , 8 x IrrBw(O) , 12 x IrrPs(O) , 6 x IrrBw(O) , 4 x IrrBw(O) ,12 x IrrAx(X) , 6 x IrrKn(O) , 6 x Baggage

Hun Army under Attilla. "Legions Triumphant" book.

Irr Cv (S) = Irregular cavalry superior IN FOG superior cav horse archers

Irr LH (S) = Irregular light horse superior IN FOG superior light horse archers

Irr Kn (S) = Irregular knights superior IN FOG armoured sup cav

Irr Ps (S) = Irregular Psillio superior IN FOG Light foot (don't seem to appear in the FOG army)

Irr Wb (S) = Irregular warband superior IN FOG These seem to be Attila's subject foot Hvy foot

Irr Wb (O) = Irregular warband ordinary IN FOG These seem to be Attila's subject foot Hvy foot

the subject foot are rated poor or average as I would expect of subjects.

I am not sure about thhe French as I don't have the DBMM book to hand and am not sure of the French army.
I would think that all the bow refer to Crossbow, but seem to remember that as having it's own class, but I may be mixing it up with DBA. Kn are knights, and Ps are LF, Ax are MF although I see they are graded (X) which means that they were slightly different in DBMM( probably weapons or armour). 6 Baggage should make up 1 camp.

The Huns are enough for a Western Hun 800 point list.

The French are enough for the starter army in Storms and Arrows with an extra 6 Knight bases and a bunch of extra archers and psiloi (light foot) to spare, so with those extras and upgrades to your commanders my guess is that it could be stretched to 800 points. The Ax(X) would have to stand in for Voulgiers, Brigans or Mobs in any case. You should check out the Storms of Arrows list.

The numbers equate directly with number of bases in FOG

Huns

1 x IrrCv(S) , 2 x IrrCv(S) , Cavalry with bow, probably armour and other weapons
2 x IrrLH(S), 40 x IrrLH(S), LH with bow and possibly other weapons
3 x IrrKn(F) , 4 x IrrKn(F) , Cavalry probably with armour, shield and lance. Possibly light spear.
4 x IrrPs(S) LF with javelin/light spear
12 x IrrWb(S) , 12 x IrrWb(O) HF probably with some armour suitable for impact foot or light spear/swordsmen

A second army I'd like translated is a Medieval French army:

3 x IrrKn(S) , 12 x IrrKn(S), 6 x IrrKn(O) Heavily armoured knights lance/sword
10 x IrrBw(i) MF bow, probably no protection or other weapons beyond the "trusty fruit-knife"
8 x IrrBw(O) 4 x IrrBw(O) MF crossbow. Maybe with some armour or shields and/or other weapons.
12 x IrrPs(O) LF crossbow
12 x IrrAx(X) "Brigans" MF with spears and probably not much armour or shields.
6 x Baggage = 1 camp
