We're looking into these memory issue reports. They don't seem to affect players consistently.

I realise this isn't the fix you're looking for, but a solution that might work for you would be to install a 64 bit version of windows. Looking at your specs, you've got a lot of RAM which is currently out of reach.

Yeah, that is on my to-do list. Disc lies right next to me. (With 8 gigs or ram, I now kind of need it.) However, I had these issues with my old PC, totally different system specs and 4gigs of ram (so no use for 64bit version). So I doubt it is that. Will try, though.

Almost forgot to post this - the 64bit version solved it! Quickload is working, no more crashes etc. That's a relief.
In case you guys are still looking into it, the memory issues I (and probably others, too) had are thus related to the Windows 32bit build. (amateurish guess, I know)

My steam version is still showing 1.9.4d for os x.I already had that text file in the steam folder for OOB Pacific but I did replace it with the file from dropbox. The game still hangs on turn 12 however for the AI.

Steam should update automatically, but you could try the 'verify install' option in steam. This should check that you have all the latest files.

That's what I thought it would do, I have verified the install a couple times and it is set to auto update but it keeps saying 1.9.4d however. I might just try removing the game and re downloading it to see if that updates it to 1.9.4e as I am still stuck on turn 12. BoB dlc works fine though.
Game now updated to 1.9.4e tonight thanks!.
