Two Allied Corps questions... Possible problem indication?
Hello fellow players,
I recently bought the full set of DLC for Panzer Corps, great game (although I'm having some big concerns about the soft cap bug not being addressed... Hesitate playing the grand tourney because of it. Come on Lordz!) I started playing Allied Corps but I had two questions.
First, I bought the first Allied General game loooong ago. While the first Panzer Corps seemed to follow the Panzer General missions a bit, I swear I don't recognize any of these mission types from Allied General. I'm not saying that is a bad thing of course, but I'm wondering how such missions relate, or if they are simply all totally different? Long time players might know the answer to this one.
Second, I'm playing at the normal difficulty (don't remember what it is called, but it is the default). Things have been a CAKE WALK so far. Maybe that has to do with playing through the first Panzer Corps, but Jez, this seems way too easy. I am getting huge loads of prestige and can just fix anything I have. I'm at 9k on storage already! I wonder if this has to do with the imbalances caused by the soft cap design/construction? Is the game just that easy compared to Panzer Corps? I know I certainly haven't gotten that much better. Even the map designs seem much more straight forward than Panzer Corps. What gives?
Thanks for those that are able to provide some feedback!

Up to Crusader, things are a cakewalk. Crusader will bite you in the backside however!
Softcap has nothing to do with this - the early scenarios are just designed that way.

I dunno... I'm like 5 missions past crusader and all have been Triumphs rather easily
Loaded with 9k prestige and I'm certainly no pro at this game.
Plus, it seems that triumph vs normal victory doesn't really impact the campaign much at all like it did in Panzer Corps... I guess Triumph at least gives more prestige? Or is it not even worth it?

There's definitely fewer branches in the campaign that rely on a DV. I never played AC past Crusader (got stuck and wasn't happy with the campaign anyway), so I'm not able to give you prestige values without going back in the game files.Emoni wrote:I dunno... Yeah, while I'm having fun, it does feel like the Allied Corps campaign is just at a lower level of quality in some respects

Harder and better designed I assume?
And Allied Corps isn't similar missions toAllied Geneal rig?

Start the campaign in 42 with an all american core on difficulty FM or higher. Kasserine pass is hell.Emoni wrote:Yeah, while I'm having fun, it does feel like the Allied Corps campaign is just at a lower level of quality in some respects

Here you can see (if you don't consider it to much of a spoiler) the campaign tree for Allied Corps. As you can see it doesn't branch very heavily so all Triumphs give you is indeed more prestige and personal satisfaction, which is not to be underestimated
. The first few missions are more or less a tutorial so they are quite easy. Later on, when you start facing the DAK the missions tends to get a bit harder and in Europe after D-Day some can be quite a pain. If you find the game to easy you can always crank up the difficulty, assuming of course you aren't already playing on field marshal. There is a self imposed way to make the campaign additionally harder too if you like: Just don't use the Churchil tanks. They are a bit to good in AC imho and tend to make everything easy, at least early in the game.
Edit: Added the link to the campaign tree.

Good to see you're enjoying yourself.
I'm putting up with the pain of putting the medieval Korean army down, and then releasing all of its units are set to be Japanese (and guess who's responsible!)

Re: Two Allied Corps questions... Possible problem indicatio
Wish there was a Grand Campaign for the Allies tbh...
Maybe since Soviet Corps is being made it is a possibility?
