Can we please add Gurkha into game

Post by Stephen1024 »

I really like see Gurkha add in to the game.

Gurkha are one most highly decorated units in commonwealth. Winning 12 Victorira cross during world war 2 they fought in most theatres of that conflict. They won a total 2,734 bravery awards during world war 2.

Sher Bahadur Thapa of the 8th Gurkha rifles

His citation in the London Gazette reads:

On 18/19 September 1944 at San Marino, Italy, when a company of the 9th Gurkha Rifles encountered bitter opposition from a German prepared position, Rifleman Sher Bahadur Thapa and his section commander, who was afterwards badly wounded, charged and silenced an enemy machine-gun. The rifleman then went on alone to the exposed part of a ridge where, ignoring a hail of bullets, he silenced more machine-guns, covered a withdrawal and rescued two wounded men before he was killed.

Hitler even once said “If I had Gurkha, I can win the whole world.”

Lachhiman Gurung 8th Gurkha rifles

On 12/13 May 1945 at Taungdaw, Burma [now Myanmar], Rifleman Lachhiman Gurung was manning the most forward post of his platoon which bore the brunt of an attack by at least 200 of the Japanese enemy. Twice he hurled back grenades which had fallen on his trench, but the third exploded in his right hand, blowing off his fingers, shattering his arm and severely wounding him in the face, body and right leg. His two comrades were also badly wounded but the rifleman, now alone and disregarding his wounds, loaded and fired his rifle with his left hand for four hours, calmly waiting for each attack which he met with fire at point blank range.

His citation in the London Gazette ends with:

...Of the 87 enemy dead counted in the immediate vicinity of the Company locality, 31 lay in front of this Rifleman's section, the key to the whole position. Had the enemy succeeded in over-running and occupying Rifleman Lachhiman Gurung's trench, the whole of the reverse slope position would have been completely dominated and turned.

This Rifleman, by his magnificent example, so inspired his comrades to resist the enemy to the last, that, although surrounded and cut off for three days and two nights, they held and smashed every attack.

His outstanding gallantry and extreme devotion to duty, in the face of almost overwhelming odds, were the main factors in the defeat of the enemy.

Incase anyone wonders after going to hospital he went back to 8th Gurkha rifles and continued to fight and serve.

I ask out great respect for Gurkhas fighting spirit please add them into game, I really like see them in it.

The only reason you want to have these troops into play?
The German troops have (regular troops and Waffen SS) and any normal troops and special forces of each army has fought, well done. Since the Gurhkas were not the only

There are lots units I like see added and depending where game goes to will decide lot about what units can be added.

I mentioned Gurkha as there often over looked when people think of British elite troops most think of LRDG SAS and forget SBS and Gurkha. Also Gurkhas where actually feared and respected greatly by both Japanese and Germans. As can be seen by fact the Japanese knowing faced Gurkhas sent in 200 men kill just small group of Gurkhas, that small group held out for about 3 days againest Japanese till relieved.

I love see bandenburgers added if we go europe, the japanese marine paras would be nice add. There was Merrill's Marauders and chindits, Merrill's Marauders where copy british chindits.
Burma was not well favoured by british or the americans so lot things where tried out there as there was serious lack of everything men equipment.

what you wanted to say, I could imagine. But the Gurkhas are just one of many elite troops that the war has produced. and when Indian troops should be included in the future, then yes to the Gurkha, but only because the elite no.
not forgetting my opinion ...
