What is the M23 76(W) U.S. Tank?

In the Japanese campaign I have encountered an Allied tank called M23 76(W), but I cannot find an Internet entry for it. I suspect that it is the M4 (Sherman) with the "T23" type turret and 76mm gun, but beside that unit is an M4A3 Sherman 76(W) so it doesn't appear to be that. Perhaps the former has the T23 heavier turret with a 76mm gun, and the latter has the original M4 turret with the 76mm gun. The M23 image doesn't look like a Sherman at all though.

I think it's like adding some project/prototype as a real unit. Check for T20 Medium Tank at wiki.

Yes it's a version of the T20/T23 prototype. Because "T" is used for prototypes and "M" for production vehciles we decided to name it M23 instead in the game - because the player can decide to use it in combat (although we didn't apply that logic for the T28 and T29).
