Horst wrote:Tarrak, don't race too quickly ahead with your tanks alone and try to keep your artillery behind. I'm playing with only towed artillery in 39 and it worked building a defensive circle with tanks and inf before Wilkowieczko. From there, await counterattacks and slowly progress further, punching those hellriders and at-guns aside. The north-road there is too dangerous, flanking from the south north-eastwards with another group is advised.
Niki, naming a unit is fine, but additionally showing the real portrait with its name has more charm, don't you think?
I've only tested it by copying the picture into the main folder's UI/heroes directory. Creating these folders in your scenario folder and adding the pic there should work too. Messing with heroes.pzdat is not needed.
Now, i am def the Man Line. I need to re-play the game to get hero pic change ?
T2: yes, unfortunately, it looks like you need to replay the Piotr Trybu map to get the proper hero picture. I don't think you get the proper one when playing the next campaign in '40. I guess the data of a core unit would have to be hex-edited somehow afterwards, but I've never tried that so far.
MPC '40: Maastricht
I don't want to sound like a sissy again, but the poor 3-unit Sturmabteilung Koch gets quite the beating from the artillery, bunker, and 4 infantry units nearby right from start. I couldn't save one unit for turn 3 then, so I'm going to restart again. I'm going to land them far on the left map edge now where it's safer, although this is obviously not very authentic.
Maybe it would be easier without the artillery gun nearby. As far as I remember reading about the Eben-Emael battle, the sentries were totally unprepared and the fort only partially occupied without reinforcements. On this map, I get immediately jumped upon from all sides. Setting the ammo of all nearby units to zero, would give your assault troops a needed head start.
I must admit, I like the Eben-Emael layout of the original campaign path better with more bunkers, partially out of ammo. I miss the small scale here of the earlier campaign, like the camp of Czajanek. I would have really liked a whole fight on a highly detailed fortress map, even if only with special unique FJ units without my own core. Like a small intro map for Maastricht then. With loss or minor victory, the Koch units would be totally lost or captured by reinforcements. The Maas and Albert Kanal would be better defended as result then. With decisive victory, the fortress is already conquered when you start Maastricht, and you can use some of the Koch units to fight on from there - maybe by placing three units on special hexes on the fortress map.
Just my thoughts.

Norway was a bit boring with no real events, against no tanks and aircrafts, and lack of snow, but good to see that France turns into a slaughterfest again, like in Hannut.
"Problem" of my movement settings is that roads give like double speed to vehicles on dry weather condition. In turn 3, I already had like 30 enemy tanks around my three cities. It was still manageable with defensive circles, loosing only a core tank besides one or two crappy auxiliary vehicles. I had to buy two extra 88 right from start to deal with the many opponents somewhat.
Crowded or not, I still could kill a couple of tanks or make them surrender, but then after the retreat, prestige and time was damn short to reach the victory hexes. I had to move anything still capable to fight right to Hannut and lost two 88 while this kamikaze run. Even with my double speed on road, I barely managed to remove most of the defenders there in turn 13. Unfortunately, it was too late for any tank chasing then. I saw three small tanks left in the south of Hannut which didn’t look like they were up to drive to the evacuation zone. Too bad.
Anyway, I’m fine with a minor victory for this difficult encounter this time. No idea how it plays with vanilla settings, but maybe a few couple of turns more can’t be wrong here to prevent kamikaze assaults and have a little more time to deal with a few towns and leftover tanks. 17-18 turns should be fine instead of only 14.
Btw, I miss a railway network on the Belgium/France maps. Third map now without the possibility to place the armoured train or use rail transport. Can't imagine that Norway had a better system then these countries.
Thanks for the feedback.
An update for the scenarios Bergen to Hannut is uploaded. I guess the update should be available for download, probably tonight or tomorrow.
v0.2 16/08/13
Scenario Bergen: added few "Norwegian" units (Vickers Mk.VI), railtransports (3) added
Scenario Voss: added few "Norwegian" units (Vickers Mk.VI, Rolls Royce AC), railtransports set to 2; added UK (3 tanks)
Scenario Hegra: added few "Norwegian" units (Vickers Mk.VI, Daimler Dingo), added Ju 52 transport, railtransports (2) added
Scenario Maastricht: added Ju 52 transport, railtransports (2) added, railroads added, BE art near Eben-Emael removed and Eben-Emael ammo reduced to 2
Scenario Hannut: number of turns raised to 18, fiddled a bit with the German auxiliaries
Hero Horst Kerfin properly incorporated
2) I can't advance from Borow Gora, I repeatedly get German surrender, but IMHO I have all the objectives The 3rd objective states "Capture Gory Borowskie", how is this don, placing a unit there?? Also if Gory Borowskie is so importer, why isn't there a Flag on them?

2) DV: Take all objectives, destroy Colonel Czyżewski's HQ, the three hills are void of Polish occupants (20,16), (16,23), (22,23)
If you wish to import your core into DLC '40, unrar the file into your DLC '40 Data folder and overwrite when prompted (backup your campaign.pzdat file before extraction).
I don't get his? I just finished DlC37-39, how do I import my Core to DLC40?
Thx for the quick replay, I don as described, but now DLC40 dosent start up at all When I use the new campaign.pzdat file I get this. When I use the one with DLC40, the Mod works, but it's your core
Actually i am a bit puzzled, the tweaked campaign file has no changes, except where to look for a saved army core.
There are different DLC40 directories for the steam and non-steam version of the game; i assume this is what you mean with DLC40.
In non-steam this directory should be located /slitherine/panzer corps/dlc/GC40
In steam version /steamlibrary/steamapps/common/panzer corps/dlc/GC40
Ok I think I know, were I fuc*** **. So I don't have to use JSGME to run the "MPC '40_16-08-13"? I can just unrar the campaign.rar into the \DLC\GC40\data folder?
nikivdd, have you thought of doing a campaign at the end of the GC45? Seems a little anti-climactic to defeat the Russians at Berlin, and then a second time, capture their leader, and then have the thing end. A few more waves of Russians attacking Berlin, etc., a breakout from Berlin, or repelling an Ally attack from the other side would be cool for those of us with a lot of prestige remaining for the Berlin scenarios.
I'm clearly to stupid to get this working In the above I mix GC40 with PC40 my bad. Wants to play MPC40
I have played "MPC37-39", and its relay fun, so like to play MPC40, but how? The way I got "MPC37-3" working was unRAR "MPC '37-'39_08-08-13" into MODS folder, and using JSGME, no problem works nicely.
BUT how to import my old Core into "MPC '40 v0.1". I have "MPC '40_16-08-13" as a RAR file and also GC installed? Used the method for "MPC '37-'39", that is unRAR "MPC '40" into MODS folder, and using JSGME, no problem works nicely. "MPC '40" starts up BUT not with my core. Sub title "From the northern abyss to Damocles"

Both campaigns are extracted in .../documents/mygames/panzer corps/mods
GME is actually not required if you are satisfied to play with the vanilla stock; GME does have a tendency to screw up savecores (dunno why)
Once you have finished MPC37, you should be prompted for that army core at the start of MPC40.
The extra campaign.pzdat file i shared a couple a days works only with the official DLC 40.
