All,
There has been discussion on this forum of Oxford running a replacement Southern League event on 18 October using the theme that was to have been at the abortive Central London event. I have two positives plus the usual few from Oxford. Additionally, as those of you who follow this forum closely will know, we had previously had in mind a 25mm FOGAM/R event as a reprise of the successful one we ran earlier in the year. I have at least one taker for this too - again plus the usual suspects from Oxford although I suppose they could not do both!
We are left in something of a quandary, should we run one or the other or try for both if the numbers are small (there is a real limit as there is another weekend event organised by Alasdair going on at the same time).
Please would everyone express a view on all this? I need to know what everyone's views are before Monday evening when our club meets and we must take a decision.
Thanks
Tom

Re: Event at Oxford club on 18 October
So far no replies to this post it looks rather as if this will be a small event with just two or three visitors to the club. That is
OK but I have one person looking for 25mm FOGAM/R and three looking for 15mm FOG/R and one or maybe two who do not really mind either way.
Can anyone see a sensible way of offering both with these numbers - I cannot so if nobody has a brainwave it will have to be the traditional Southern League style 15mm to the original Central London theme.
Any views on this by end of the week please then final decision Monday 28 Sept.
Thanks all
Tom

Re: Event at Oxford club on 18 October
All,
I now have three or more people wanting to do 25mm FOGAMR. Club meeting yesterday concluded that I could not keep putting off decisions on this and it was agreed to revert to this original concept - FOGAMR. This will be on Sunday 18 October at the Oxford club in Wolvercote, at 09:00. It will be a small event so we are not going to get our knickers in a twist over army lists etc but I should like to know who plans to come - please.
My next post here will repeat the event rules from last time.
I am sorry that this will disappoint some. Let us hope that we can get the FOGR Southern League going again next year.

Re: Event at Oxford club on 18 October
All,
Here are the special rules for the FOGAMR.
All,
I have tried to pull together a single staement of special rules as follows.
Last chance to comment ( heading for beach in Malaga shortly)?
Oxford club event 6/7 June – special rules
Measurements
1MU=40mm with the following exceptions:
Flank sectors = 12";
Rear edge sectors (for threatened flanks) = 6";
Deployment limits are 15" for Lights and Artillery, and 10" for all others;
Terrain sizes in inches.
AM troop types
FOGR heavy lance to be used for gens d'armes equivalents - say from 1400 onwards
FOGR keils apply to AM pike blocks from the introduction of Pikes into the Swiss armies
FOGAM impact foot who use heavy throwing weapon (legions, Spanish) will take the points of impact foot plus bayonet/swordsmen but count as having light spear versus mounted and straight impact foot versus foot
Undrilled AM HF/MF will count as warrior – except in cases where an argument can be made for unusual levels of cohesiveness e.g. Hoplites
Slingers will count as bows with long range limited to 4 MUs
Compulsory fortified camps need not be bought
AM artillery counts as poor
AM type "protected" and "unprotected" both count as unarmoured
AM spear armed mounted will count as light lance
Terrain
AM developed counts as agricultural
Terrain choices are 1 compulsory plus 2 to 3 others.
Any questions?
TOM

Alasdair,
Great thanks. It does not look as if we shall be many.
