Multiplayer experiences

Post by Kalrat »

Hi all,

I think this game has lot's of new and good things when being in the "Panzer General" type of games. But what do you think about the multiplayer scenarios?

I have only played few scenarios but it already looks like that the scenarios are kind of killing the excellent game system. These are my reasons for that:
- In fork (first scenario I played) it is possible to buy units in city hexes. This mean that by rushing to capture city in the center you can keep it too easily. Anyways this was perhaps the best OoP game I have played so far.
- in other scenarios they may last 100 turns. This is just not playable in reasonable time and you most likely will know the winner already after 20 turns or less.
- In some scenarios fleet cannot even attend combat since they are just too far away.
- It is not clear enough which units you can build and where. If one of the units is eliminated it might take 10-20 turn to rebuild and transport unit to some location where it would help.
- There are defects in scenarios. You can buy e.g. in Burma-41 scenario units that are -45. This although is my bad since I haven't reported the issue. But scenarios are played only once typically and for this reason does not help my next game...
- Why all planes can land in same turn in airfield but cannot take off in same turn?
...and many other things that I cannot remember now...

This might sound only negative feedback but I didn't want to write all the positive things in same post since idea was to get ideas for improvement. This game for sure has potential to be one of the best games ever. But now I think there is no sense to play multiplayer game due to these problems.

Hopefully Slitherine won't ban me after this post from this forum :)

If you are talking about custom MP scenarios - than that is beyound our control (as developer). If you have feedback about specific official scenarios, can you be more specific about which one's you thinkg could use improvements?

@The Fork: Being able to deploy around city hexes is default gameplay rules. It does however take 3 turns to fully capture a VP, until then no new units can be deployed there.

@Aircraft take-off: This is so you actualy get the change to strafe aircraft while on the ground or on board a carrier. If everything there can take off instantly this interesting (and realistic) gameplay mechanic would disappear.

In The Fork my opponent and I cannot see the labels for the victory conditions! The just say something like object1-3 and the secondary ones are the same way.

I have two "The Fork" scenarios in progress and both are missing the victory conditions. They look like the person in previous email described. And I am using English version.
