Game fails to start 2nd time (Mac/OS X)

Post by uofitorn »

Hello,
Just purchased the game yesterday through Steam. I successfully loaded the game once and played through the Boot Camp scenario. However, subsequent attempts to start the game fail. I'll describe my problem in more detail just below. I made no changes to my system in between attempts to start the game and I tried the solution stickied in the post "SOLUTION: Mac launch issues " but it did not work. I tried attaching an OS X 'system report" however, the forums complained that the file size was too large (even after compressing it) and wouldn't let me include it. Let me know if you still want it and I can upload it somewhere.

Here are the specs then: 2015 Macbook Pro laptop / 2.8 GHZ / 16GB / 1TB / AMD R9 370X GPU / OS X 10.5.5 / Steam version up to date as of this writing

OS X is configured to display at a 'scaled' resolution, one step above the default, which is 1680x1050. I've attached a screenshot showing my configuration setting. I've done this in particular, because I think it may be related to the problem I'm having. Also attached is my Player.log file (I zipped it -- why is the forum configured to not allow the extension of the log file that's asked for to be uploaded?!)

Here's what happens: When I start the game through Steam, the display switches to all white, with a black rectangle in the lower left (the mouse cursor is super tiny as well). Then it switches back to my desktop with an error message that the app failed to start. I'm almost certain that the size of the black rectangle on the screen is maybe the size of 1680x1050 if it was displayed at the MBP's native resolution of 2880x1800 and the mouse cursor maybe looks like it might at 2880x1800 too. I can't be sure since it flashes back to the desktop so quickly, but it looks close. I tried setting my display settings back to the default and switching off scaling, but this did not help me start the game.

Thanks for any help.

Have you tried disabling Steam overlay?
