A legionary BG is "pinned" by an opposing pike BG because it is by around half a base in the pike's 2 MU zone of control. However, by a less than 1/2 base lateral and slightly forward move, the so-called pinned legionary BG can move into an overlap position of an existing melee! In moving, it leaves the pike's zone of control entirely. Is this an allowed move?

Half base shift into overlap whilst pinned?

Except the text immediately below says:hammy wrote:Yes,
The last allowed option in the first section on P74 is to conform to an overlap possition agains another enemy battle group.
"In each of the above cases, the battlegroup must end its move at least partly in front of the enemy battlegroup, or the move is not permitted."
So you can't use this to get out of a restricted area.
On the other hand, on page 75 it says of moving into an overlap position:
"It is not affected by the restricted area of other enemy battlegroups"
So you can.
This looks like a contradiction.
What did the authors really mean?
(nothing in the errata on this one)
