Lets not leave the Navy out: If an enemy has a naval unit say in your port or a fjord with another naval unit behind it with no other spaces to move to or blocked by other naval units\land and you get a retreat result from combat it will scuttle the naval unit (in effect a surrender just like a land unit). I love it when I attack and force a full strength naval unit to scuttle - especially Battleships!!!
