Game freezes and crashes in combat w/o incident report

I got this game on steam recently. It is version 1.23 Steam. I am still having issues starting the game thru steam games. The game will start the opening music; then freeze about 4 seconds in; and stay black screen the entire time. I found a similar post on your forums about this problem. It referred to opening the application directly from file, which worked.

I began a campaign and immediately loved the game. Huge board game fan and the translation was great. As the campaign progressed, I noticed that, at times, combat sequences would skip their animation, but still do the audio. This happened almost 90% of the time, during the AI turn. I chalked it up to a slight graphics card hiccup. Then during one of the hiccups, the game froze and exited with no incident report. I checked for any log files in the panzer corp log folder, which was empty. I have had graphics card crashes on games of much higher resolution, but never game crashes like this. All other computer operations are fine. I will include my dxdiag file at the end, but all report no problems. I have also checked the game files, and re-downloaded them, just to be sure.

What do you believe the problem is and how can I fix it? Any incite you have will be helpful. Thanks and also great work on the game.

You seem to have two different issues, that probably are not related.

Where is the game installed? Can you tell the installation path?

The game is set on a separate drive from my primary steam library. It is with all my games and other files and there are no problems such as this with any other games of any graphic value.

If the game starts correctly if you run the game main exe (PanzerCorps.exe) check if your Internet security programs aren't interfering with the game launcher (autorun.exe).
Disable them temporarily.
Try also providing admin rights to autorun.exe:
Press the right mouse button and select Properties over autorun.exe. Click on the Compatibility tab. Tick the option Run this program as an administrator.
Click on Apply and Ok.

The game will now run from steam. As of yet the freezing issue has not reoccurred. I will give an update when the issue starts again.
