AGEods Thirty Years War
Been looking at this game for some time and without any warning it's out on sale ! it looks good, except for the battle feature. Just wondering if there is a way of fighting the battles in Pike and shot, and some how transfer the result into Thirty Years War ? Thank's for reading.

Re: AGEods Thirty Years War
It always struck me that the overall strategy of Ageod's TYW married with the Pike and Shot battles would' be the perfect game combination - kind of a more historically accurate Total War game. Sadly I don't think you can transfer results between the two.

I'm sorry but it's not possible.
These games were created by different developers and both have different game engines.
They only thing in common is the historical background.

I think people understand that , the very technical question is, is it possible to do it on ones own.....
I am not very familiar w Ageod games.. I quick google search and prowling around on the Ageod forums indicates the games are moddable and there have been a few queries if SAVED games can be edited, but I have found no responses that directly answer that question!

Ok, I do own PON ( Pride of Nations) which is of course a different engine to other Ageod games but likely shares many similarities...
Saved games are text files and are HUGE However they can be opened and contain many references to recognizable military units and sub units with hosts of data attached that looks like it could be editable...
So, methinks it would be possible to edit saved game files to import battle result, although it likely is a complicated task riddled with danger ( of file corruption : ) )

Re: AGEods Thirty Years War
Thank you for all your replies. I think the Pike and Shot battles are some of the most accurate I have come across although can be damn frustrating ! I am one of those players who ranks every victory as a great achievement. I had hoped to "marry up" the beautiful map and campaign element of "AGEods Thirty years war with Pike and Shot. I felt it was a long shot....But wanted to ask the question anyway. I wonder if Richard and co can do something similar for Pike and Shot ? Although that is a very big ask !
I have to say I'm no modder by any stretch of the imagination, and even if it were possible I wouldn't have the skill anyway. As yet I haven't bought the game.........I was hoping someone would make a "Gameplay video", but it is very early days. I don't have any of the AGEod games, but have been very impressed with the video's I have seen of "To End All Wars". But I have to say I'm really enjoying Pike and Shot......And am wondering what the developers will bring out next ?
Be it Medieval or further on like the Seven Years war, if I had my choice I would choose 100 years war and the Wars of the Roses. But whatever. I will probably go and buy AGEods Thirty Years War.......Mostly for the beautiful map. Thanks again for helping.

I would be satisfied if I was given the opportunity to let TYW play the battle or input the results from a P&S skirmish game. I have't bought TYW yet, so I do not know what information they would need to translate the battle results from P&S, or if all of the required information is available. I imagine that P&S's lack of commanders (i.e. casualties during the battle) could be a hurdle.VPaulus wrote:I'm sorry but it's not possible.

It is a nice idea, but not really feasible. The games are internally too different.w_michael wrote:I would be satisfied if I was given the opportunity to let TYW play the battle or input the results from a P&S skirmish game. Re: AGEods Thirty Years War
If I could find a decent map......Have searched the Internet...In particular E Bay and Amazon although have also seen a board game "30 Years War " which is a bit expensive considering I only want the map. I would make my little wooden blocks and do my own campaign similar to what I have already started with the English Civil war........Push my blocks around but fight the battles in skirmish mode........So if anyone knows of any good maps.........Covering the 30 Years War ? Must be cheap.......I am a Yorkshireman after all !
Like you say AGEod.s game and Pike and Shot are both very different. I guess I will just have to accept things for what they are. AGEod's map is brilliant as are many aspects of the campaign. Pike and Shot battles are fantastic. On this occasion I can't have them both TOGETHER..

Re: AGEods Thirty Years War
AGEOD games can be modded by scripting, as was done often in our Pride of Nations campaign game to tinker or fix things and implement peace treaties or other arrangements - payments made, units added, removed, provinces yielded, etc. So yes - forces could be extracted, battles played out, and results implemented, but I was not clever enough in the scripting system to do much more than follow templates and use trial and error for the ad hoc stuff.
Not much interest I think for playing out the more modern battles on the table or in a tactical game, but I expect people have done that on their own for the ancient period. I suspect someone facile with scripting could build an editor for the purpose to extract/replace armies from data files and tie up the loose ends.

When it comes to campaign maps you might like to take a look at this -fairfax wrote:If I could find a decent map......Have searched the Internet...In particular E Bay and Amazon although have also seen a board game "30 Years War " which is a bit expensive considering I only want the map.
