Smoke

In addition to blocking LoS, does smoke also provide protection? In Tiller's Campaign Series smoke
halved incoming fire... I have a feeling this is not so in BA?

IIRC it only affects accuracy.

OK, would you say then that smoke significantly improves your survival chances? Is there a percentage here?

IIRC it reduces accuracy through it by half.
