Moving ranks in mixed base BGs

After a long time avoiding them, I am trying the mixed Burgundian BGs, 3 Defensive Spear HF and 3 Longbow Swordmen MF.

Depending on the terrain, and the enemy, it will be better to have the HF at the front or the MF, specially now that the rear rank uses the POAs of the front rank. In normal two line formation, may I assume that just moving (making sure no base moves more than 3 MU, and the former front bases do not move backwards) enables me to change the rank order? Or do I have to contract (2 spears back)-expand (2 LBs front)-contract(remaining spear back)-expand (last LB front) to change the order?

Last time we discussed this it was the second choice, but I would like to know if there have been changes.

There is no provision for swapping ranks other than by expanding and contracting. I can see that in rough terrain you would want the bow at the front and the spear behind but then this formation was not intended to fight in broken ground.
