Erik? Papua NG

Post by SSLConf_Yolo911 »

Hi Erik,

After many turns I still cannot figure out how to purchase and deploy an aircraft unit. No normal or recognizable hexes are visible. I see the red arrows but when I select the new unit to deploy and click on one of the red arrows (I'm the Japs) nothing happens. Any suggestions? And I think you need to add a few moreJiN1 for the Japs at the beginning because the allied airpower is completely overwhelming. The zeros can't touch the large bombers. ANd they are no match for the allied fighters. Sure if I attack an allied fighter with six zeros I can down one. But then the retaliation downs two zeros.

The scenario starts with the historical units. There are no available air or naval command points, so you cannot purchase those unit types.
There are resources and land command points to purchase one infantry unit (turn-1 reinforcement).
I have no plans to change this.

So you need to make do with the air units vailable at start. (Losing a core unit will give you back the command points so you can re-purchase if you got enough resources).
The US overall have more air units, but the fighter strengths are about equal. The Japanese must make good use of their superior naval assets to even the balance. I also believe concentrating the air assets in the Port Moresby area and the naval assets in the Gili-Gili will help the Japanese.

I think I misunderstood your original question in another post, sorry about that.

Ooops, looks like I removed too much Allied supply at Port M...
I'll update a new v6.7 in a few minutes.

Okay Erik, you're in the driver's seat. I wouldn't be able to figure out the game editor if my life depended on it. So I have to rely on other people to make scenarios. Not an ideal situation. Did you ever think about making a completely balanced scenario that would be fun to play, instead of scenarios that are a grind and frustrating as hell?

I really don't think there is such a thing as completely balanced scenario, too many variables. Especially if you can purchase units in addition to the pre-deployed ones.
The only game I can think of is the old board-game Blitzkrieg (I think it was called), with a 'mirrored' map and identical forces. Kind of like chess.

You should challenge CZero with him playing the Japanese and you playing the Allies.
He played the Japanese against me in a previous battle, I beat him. He told me he would play differently the next time, and now his Japanese troops are close to over-running Port Moresby.
I'm probably biased ( ), but I think this scenario is not totally un-balanced... :D
