this is prolly dumbest question ever given that its the pacific, but can you only play america and japan in multiplayer?
i cant find any videos for online games...or multiplayer reviews..

Re: 4 player multiplayer?
It is 2v2 as there are only 2 historical sides. The audience for these type of games don't like abstractions like Japanese vs Japanese or 4 player free for all so we don't tend to offer then. It also makes ownership of units very confusing as its not recolured - Japanese units look Japanese and there is no system to distinguish 2 Japanese sides.

oh i see thats awesome. so do you start of with a barax that can produce units? or all the units pre set? is it objective based or deathmatch?
sorry for annoyance, im just about to buy this game and was wondering about online mode
Re: 4 player multiplayer?
Do you have experience with any hex-based games such as Panzer General or Panzer Corps?
There is a range of multiplayer scenarios available in various setups, such as 1v1, 2v2, cooperative VS AI etc. Technically the game does support setups such as 1v1v1v1 but we currently have no scenarios like that. A scenario editor is available in the game however and the community has already been producing various MP and SP scenarios.
The objectives and starting forces depend on the scenario, but quite often you get to purchase your forces during the deployment phase at the beginning of the scenario.
Note that Multiplayer is played through a server based system inspired by the old "play-by-email" (PBEM). Each player can play their turn in their own time, and upload its to a server by clicking the "end turn" button. Then the next player can pick up the game, play his turn, etc.

yeah i have some experience with panzer corps, but i dont think its 2v2 is it ? im only interested in this for multiplayer
the reason im interested in this is because me, my uncle, and 2 friends can all play together since its 4 players. before i have everyone buy the game on steam, i just wanted to clarify how multiplayer works. i know its pbem system, but if we are all online together can we play it like similar to civ 5? (like we are all in the game still and playing at a faster pace)
we were originally looking for a setting other than the pacific, including germans in 2v2 but this seems to be only hex based strategy game of this kind with 4 players right?
Re: 4 player multiplayer?
"real time" multiplayer is not available at the moment, only the PBEM++ system. It's something we plan in looking into eventually, but probably not within the forseeable future.
And yes this currently is the only Slitherine game to support up to 4 players.

Re: 4 player multiplayer?
oh okay cool, i understand this is a fairly new game. one last question, can you play other nations in multiplayer? or just US vs japan?adherbal wrote:"real time" multiplayer is not available at the moment, only the PBEM++ system. Re: 4 player multiplayer?
Again it depends on the scenario. The game currently only has full unit lists for the US and Japan, but other nations are available with (very) limited unit lists such as Britain, The Netherlands, Germany etc. These can be used in custom created multiplayer scenarios.

ok cool! i just bought a copy of the game from steam and will be buying more copies for my uncle and brother. are there any manual updates or patches i have missed that i need to download?
i was watching the game on youtube and the game had much better graphics and nicer color on their screens.. my RIG is really strong. i was wondering if i missed something?
Re: 4 player multiplayer?
steam will do that all for you, as it's a auto patcher if left to default
looks is in setting, just alter to best view default is in the middle, i've altered to best

awesome thanks!
Re: 4 player multiplayer?
If you buy from Slitherine you get a free Steam 'serial number' for each game you purchase.
Re: 4 player multiplayer?
oh wait, what exactly does that mean? 2 copies for 1?Erik wrote:If you buy from Slitherine you get a free Steam 'serial number' for each game you purchase.
Re: 4 player multiplayer?
You don't end up having two copies. What we do his allow you to redeem a Steam key, so that you can add it to your Steam account.creesto1 wrote:oh wait, what exactly does that mean? 2 copies for 1?Erik wrote:If you buy from Slitherine you get a free Steam 'serial number' for each game you purchase.
