Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
“Never do any enemy a small injury for they are like a snake which is half beaten and it will strike back the first chance it gets.” – Niccolò Machiavelli
Boots are pounding the ground for days. Dirty and grimy soldiers are marching in the ranks with the sergeants trying (mostly in vain) to keep them disciplined.
Too many days have passed since the last plundered town and now food is starting to run out. The men are nervous.
Suddenly a cry from the head of the column. Scouting cavalry have spotted enemy heavy pikemen formations supported by artillery.
It is time to spill some blood!
Pike and Shot: Campaigns is a brand new all-in-one package. It includes the Pike and Shot base game and the Tercio to Salvo expansion, plus 21 new skirmish army lists for the rest of Europe during the period of the Italian Wars (1494-1559) covering the armies of England, Scotland, Denmark, Sweden, German States, Austria, Hungary, Transylvania, the Ottoman Empire, Poland-Lithuania and Russia!
But the main new feature is the strategic map system, implemented to allow you to lead your armies to victory over an entire theatre of operations, taking into account strategic considerations such as terrain, available manpower, supply, attrition, sieges and economic damage.
Pike and Shot: Campaigns includes 4 campaigns:
Gustavus Adolphus, set in the “Swedish phase” of the Thirty Years War, allows you to play as Swedes or Imperialists.
English Civil War allows you to play as Royalists or Parliamentarians.
Great Turkish War, set in the period of the famous Siege and Battle of Vienna in 1683, allows you to play as Austria and Poland or as the Ottoman Empire.
Pike and Shot allows you to match any two armies from 1494 to 1648 in a struggle for dominance.
With Pike and Shot: Campaigns the infamous Iron Century with all of its military innovations is depicted at its best!
If you already own Pike and Shot and Tercio to Salvo, prepare for a great promotion. The game launches on August 13th!

Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
Sounds brilliant. Can owners of Pike and Shot and Tercio to Salvo just buy an expansion, or do we need to pay full price for a full new game? Product page doesn't make it clear.
Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
This sounds outstanding! But the title says 1494-1698 and I don't see a campaign here for that later period that would take us to 1698 (Nine Years War). Is there to be one?

The Great Turkish War started in 1682/1683 and continued until 1699. There are new army lists for Austria, Poland and the Ottoman Empire.TLord wrote:This sounds outstanding! Having said that, 1494-1698 has always been the intended ultimate scope of Pike and Shot. The internal combat rules have always covered the whole of this period, although the in-game units and army lists had not yet been created for the 1649-1698 period.
Although they are not part of the Pike and Shot Campaigns release, we are working on adding a full set of army lists for the 1648-1698 period as a free bonus update fairly soon.

You will have to wait for an official announcement, but owners of the existing game will only be paying a fraction of the full price.Waldorf wrote:Sounds brilliant. Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
That sounds absolutely fantastic! Can't wait to see all of that. The game is already outstanding and a campaign will only make it stellar!
By the way, to add to Waldorf's concern, do those of us who already have the base game + Tercio to Salvo have to rebuy the game or will this count as a dlc we can purchase?
*And you answered the question. Never mind.

Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
All sounds good. Apart from having to wait for three weeks!

This sounds fantastic! Is the campaign part of the expansion playable multiplayer?

The capability to run multiplayer campaigns is on the engine wishlist for the future.

Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
This sounds fantastic? One little question though; For the Pike and Shot campaign, presumably we can select which two armies are involved, but how is the map for the campaign decided? Is there a generic campaign map, or does the player have a choice?

Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
You can indeed select which two armies are involved. There is a generic campaign map, but the province terrain is allocated randomly when a new campaign is set up, and the province names depend on the two nations involved.Paul59 wrote:This sounds fantastic? The other three campaigns have historical maps. Depending on the setup for the individual campaign, the army lists used when a force is raised may depend on the province in which they are raised and/or the date.
For example:
In the Great Turkish War campaign, forces raised in Austrian provinces use the Austrian list, while forces raised in Polish provinces use the Polish list. The resulting armies can combine and cooperate.
In the Gustavus Adolphus campaign Swedish forces raised at the start of the campaign use the Early TYW Swedish list, but forces raised after that use the German Protestant list (and this changes after 1638). This means that Swedish Salvo units can only be raised at the start of the campaign and cannot be replaced (although they can be brought up to strength), so you need to take care of them because if they lose too many casualties they may be combined or disbanded and then they are gone forever.
In the English Civil War campaign, the army lists used follow the campaign timeline for the Royalist and Parliamentarian lists. In addition, Royalist forces raised in Cornwall in 1643 use a special Cornish list, and Scottish Covenanter armies raised in Scotland (on the side of Parliament from 1644, and on the side of the King from 1648) use the appropriate Scottish Covenanter list.

Windows 10? Will this game be compatible with that?
Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
I hope the fraction won't be 4/3!rbodleyscott wrote:You will have to wait for an official announcement, but owners of the existing game will only be paying a fraction of the full price.Waldorf wrote:Sounds brilliant. Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!
I just own the base Pike & Shot game. Will there be a discount on the campaigns add-on in this case, please?
