Hey guys,
After really enjoying my game against Brett from New Zealand at our tournament in Melbourne this weekend, I'm interested in painting up a Tyroleon Revolt list of my own. Tons of character, rather bizarre, very unique. However, I'm misunderstanding something in the list minimums on page 31 of Triumph of Nations. It seems to be saying that I have to take a minimum of four skirmisher bases; 2 rifle, 2 musket, and that they can only be attached to Tyroleon line units. Since there's a maximum of 2 small Tyroleon line units that I can take, how can that be? Should the skirmisher attachment minimum be two total, not two of each?

I would assume it means you have to have 2, your choice of type. The two boxes should probably be combined.

What did you like about the army as far as units and quality?
Re: Tyrolean Revolt List
That's what I thought too.
As for what I like about it, well, I've got a Prussian 1813-1815 infantry corps and a French reserve cavalry corps (with either one division of line infantry or one division of guard cavalry, depending on my mood), so I've already got a couple of "normal" Napoleonic armies to play with. And I very much enjoy playing against a wide variety of opponents in Melbourne and around Australia with all the major and minor European powers. What the Tyrolean Revolt gives you is something completely unique from the mainstream lists. Looks different plays different, and has a colourful bit of history behind it.
If every second list in the tournament was a Tyrolean Revolt list, that would be stupid. It wouldn't feel like a Napoleonic game any more. But of 23 players, one person, Brett Preston, used the list. That made it a welcome change. And the list has a good balance of strengths and weaknesses, fits in well compared to the others available in power level, so it's not like they're going to take over.
I also just really liked the way they looked. That could have a lot to do with Brett's painting.
Liked it enough to want one for myself, to bring out occasionally.

Thanks Brett! I was just about to place an order today for the beginnings of this project, and I was going to ask you for advice on flags and the like. So I'll email you today. The offer of your spare figures is very kind; I'll send you cash for the postage, and the next time we're on the same continent the first beer is definitely on me.
