I thought if air supply was negative I would start to see some ill effects and not be able to deploy any further aircraft. Neither is true. Is this working as expected?

Hi folks, I thought I had got the hang of everything but this just confused me. Australia scenario. The air supply above my Japanese carriers shows as -7. I have 10 air CP left.
I thought if air supply was negative I would start to see some ill effects and not be able to deploy any further aircraft. Neither is true. Is this working as expected? Thanks,

Also confused about this unit. Why can it not be resurrected when it is in the coffin list? All the other units shown in this list can be.

All dead units from the current scenario will be listed there. Perhaps it would make more sense to display only core units, but that's the way it works right now.
As for air supply, the -7 means you have deployed more aircraft than your carriers (and/or airfields) can support. While Command Points determine how many air units you can potentially deploy, you also need enough air supply to actually support them.
On negative supply balance your air units will operate on a lower efficiency level. I don't know what the total supply output of all your carriers/airfields is, perhaps it's so high that a deficiency of -7 is fairly marginal in comparison?

Ah OK thanks! One last thing that I'm struggling with. Coral Sea scenario - lost a Catalina and immediately resurrected it but there is nowhere to deploy it.
I've not been offered the option and have searched the map and the original deployment hexes have vanished. CP and air supply not a problem.

Hmyeah the deployment hexes are probably only valid in the deployment phase, relying on carriers or cruisers for later deployments. But neither of those is valid for the Catalina I suppose.
