New flags for new Units
Hi,
My first steep has been to create a new scenary, Rocroi with the Spanish army,
Now I am changing some flags but i would like to do some more difficult
I wonder if it would be posible to add a new flag to each unit
Is it neccesary to create a new units for each new flag then?
To create new units... is it enough to create a txt file?
Thank you

Re: New flags for new Units
Are you talking about flags in the 3d models?
Do you want to put new flags in units? Like originally it has 3 flags and you now want 4 flags? This needs 3D modeling skills.
Or do you want each unit to have a unique flag?

Re: New flags for new Units
Hi,
Thank you for your answer
I want a unique flag for each unit
For example, if i had 5 veteran late tercios, side 0, i would like a different flag for each tercio
But as they use the same file late_tercio_ veteran@ if I change the file the 5 units had the same flag again.
Bye

Re: New flags for new Units
You will have to make 5 skin folders. Inside each folder is the same texture file name but different paints.
But there is a skin limit to the editor. I think 12 skin folders for each 3d model.
And it shares with the defualt so anything more that that will not appear in the skin selection window in the editor.
To use more skins, you need to "clone" the tercio 3d object .S3F file and change itss name so that it does not interfere with the default skins.
You also open the .S3F in text editor to change the skin's name.
Open the new 3d model in the game and it will compile a new .S4F file based on the .S3F. This is the actual 3d model used in battle.
You need a clone of the tercio's txt file as well and change it to the new name. This will set the animation.
Oh before I forget, you also need to create a new entry in squads.csv for the new unit that uses the new 3d model.
Yes, many steps and quite complicated. But I can go though with you step-by-step again if you want. Let me know if you really want to do it this way... unless there are other alternative methods.

Re: New flags for new Units
Hi,
Well, i could to add the flags of each unit finally
I attach a screen:
There are 19 units from the Spanish Army. 4 tercio late veteran (3Italians and 1 Burgundian), 6 tercios "viejos", 5 pike shot (German and Wallons) and 4 pike shot veteran (German and Wallons)
I have opened 5 skin folders (data\battle\unittextures) and i have modified 16 dds files
Days ago I had changed the squads file so this work was already done
Well, i will add the flags of the France army in the next days
Bye

Nice. Good thing you did not resort into cloning.

Re: New flags for new Units
Hi,
Two details to share
- According my experience to create skins-folds in data\battle\unittextures has not limited. Only it is neccesary to reset the game if you added a new fold while the game is working. This one together to add new units in the file squads and text1 it will let you to deploy units with different flags
