EIR Auxillia cavalry

Post by irondog068 »

As I wait for the new Roman book to hit the other side of the pond. I am finishing up fixing my EIR army. The Legion mounting were easy to figure. As were most of the foot Axullia. I mounted archers light, spear and armored guys medium. Now I am getting to the cavalry.
are all spear armed Roman Auxillia rated as cavalry if they have armor? Or are some rated as light? Please give me some idea on how to mount these Batavian looking cavalry. I would imagine the German Auxillia cavalry would be heavy, right?

j have just a copy of legions triumphant.

In the principate roman list( ie EIR ) the auxiliary cavalry is rated as cavalry if armoured and light spear /swordmen armed . There is the choice to buy light horse auxiliary if unprotected ,javelin and light spear armed.

If you chose to use the allied german cavalry as Batavians it's rated as cavalry light spear/swordmen armed.

hoping be helpful.
bye Andy
