I see a number of posts from months ago complaining that the recon trait doesn't work:

This makes it very difficult to scout properly. Apparently this works in most of the other games using the same engine, and the units in this game have the trait; it just doesn't work.
Is there any hope that this will be fixed in an upcoming patch?

Yeah Recon tells "There's nothing here" then "Woops! sorry. By the way, I should be dead very soon".

Seems like most of these games have Reconnaissance by Death. It would be nice if the recon units did act more like the scouts in Panzer Corps. At least they have a chance to survive a recon mission. (John Tiller's Campaign series has the same problem and I love that game too.)

I don't want to raise the dead, but...
I wonder why recon doesn't work like it is written in the manual on p.17:
Will this be fixed in the near future??? Recon by fire isn't really an option in games like these. (imho) (Yes it works if you got much more firepower than your foe and can eliminate the opposing forces while it's your turn. But if not,... poor little bastards these scouts...)

Vehicles in Armageddon represent recon cars and other armoured units, but are much weaker than tanks. Many vehicles share similar stats with walkers, including 4 moves or more and the ability to use some of its movement points, do something else with the unit (or another) and then move again. This may be a recon action or an attack on an enemy. In addition, most vehicles are more heavily armed compared to walkers.

I don't think that in the books it's written that becoming a scout is an indirect death punishment.
Okay, in wars, elite assault, working as scouts/foreward, can often be composed of fanatics that politics prefer being dead,
or prefer them taking risks rather than common troops (who'll become quicker dead as unexperienced in the job), but they prefer the despised elite dead just in the end of the war, not all of them before (as soon as they are involved in a campaign scenario lol).
