Coral Sea (Japan) - A sudden sharp utterance

Post by Dragoon. »

I was playing Coral Sea (Japan) and about to finish off the Yorktown, the last US carrier, when the message came up the US carriers lost their air groups and are retreating. Immediately after the victory screen came up with 4 turns left. The Yorktown with no escorts surrounded by 2 destroyers, 1 dive bomber and 1 torpedo bomber miraculously escaped. Denying me the objective to destroy all enemy carriers.

This teleportation technology, the US Navy is employing and I encountered the fist time in Gudalcanal (US) really starting to suck. First a battleship, now a carrier, I thought urban myth said they just made a destroyer disappear in the Philadelphia Project? Somebody call Fox Mulder I have a case for him. :D

You make a good point, the scripting can sometimes be exploited badly and in some cases it makes pretty normal gameplay frustrating!

There should be a mission for Japan to destroy the American teleportation facilities at Montauk. :D

Good thing you didn't sink Yorktown as she is worth 200 credit in Midway hahaha

I did sink her, after replaying the scenario. This time I allowed 2 depleted Wildcat wings to run wild among the auxiliary torpedo bombers, and now I got punished thrice for that? This is like getting a wedgie after being spanked.

The whole thread created a longing to replay Red Alert 2. Anyone got RA2 and want to play the campaign in coop?
Side note. In RA2 the Allies actually build in WWII a device which is capable of moving matter through time und through space. The Chronosphere! :D

Report back if they do.
Then you, me, simcc and monkspieder should meet and design a bonus scenario for the community to download, where they can, as monkspider suggested, raid the research and teleportation facilities at Montauk Camp hero.

I'm picturing submarines landing Giretsu Kuteitai, including a news flash with a picture. Japan raiding US eastern seaboard. Invades Long Island!

I actually looked up Camp Hero on Google and it would make an awesome place for a commando style scenario.

No teleportations. The Carriers fought to the end, two Cruisers were still present when the 2nd and last US Carrier sank.
