SB2C Helldiver

Post by WWII44 »

I think in a later update they should remove the torpedo bomber variants of the SB2C Helldiver as it was a dive bomber only and was never designed to carry torpedoes. Yes this is just a nitpick but I had to voice my opinion or it would have driven me mad.

I am not sure about it, I also only remember the Helldiver as dive bomber. But Wikipedia gives it a torpedo option, too: " in internal bay: 2,000 lb (900 kg) of bombs or 1 × Mark 13-2 torpedo".
It's an interesting question, has it ever been used in combat rather as torpedo than dive bomber?

Not that I know of, it's always been a dive bomber from what I have seen. I disabled the torpedo bomber variant by editing the units file because of this.

Yeah, another poster has brought this up too. We settled with "probably not used as torpedo bmb, but had technically the capability for it".

The guy who introduces the aircraft mentions a possible torpodo loadout around 1:50.
