I am curious to know what you all think about leaders.
Personally I feel they have only marginal influence and impact on gameplay and in the end leaders (and unit experience as well) seem to have only a "cosmetic" role in this game.

Re: Leaders
I tend to agree, especially the land commander for the US. His unit seems to always be the least efficient. Maybe I'm not attaching him to the right type of unit. The air leader for fighters also seems to take the most casualties, the bomber leader seems to be the most efficient.
Re: Leaders
I agree. Leader effects are hardly noticable. Just as experience. Pity. Both could add a lot of colour to the game.
Re: Leaders
I noticed my Infantry Leader (Japanese) attracts artillery fire like Axe Apollo (supposedly!) women.
I never noticed a major difference for US Infantry Leaders, my Fighter and Bomber who became aces and 5 star first had a leader. But that might be because I wanted them to become that because they got a leader... oh well.

Re: Leaders
For my leaders here is how I attached them.
IJ
Land leaders - attached to arty except 1 dude I attached to tank. The NZ hero have defence value IIRC that dude is in heavy
Naval leaders - attached to Yamato and the defence dude in a tone cruiser (can take massive hit even from battleship)
Air leaders - attached to zero (he took the most casualty due to the fact japs fighters only have zero and wasn't that good vs American planes.
US
Land leader - again on arty later upgrade to priest (super awesome) another dude from Okinawa is in my para for the xtra shock
Naval leader - in cruisers
Air leader - I place them in p38 lighting which is the best unit in air, xtra leader support means you can handle better fighter, and p38 land attack is powerful a little behind some of those expensive bombers
I do have a question but not related to this post, I notice my avatar is changing and I love that recon truck look so if I wanna be active in comment but I don't wanna lose that recon truck anyway to do that? Thx

Re: Leaders
If I interpreted correctly the game mechanics, you maximise your leaders bonus when you attach them to units with low stats so that the + 1 or +2 attack/defense bonus can produce a significant % increase. Adding a +1 attack leader to a unit with high attack strenght should not increase a lot the unit overal statistics. In addition, I wonder if it is worth attaching a defensive leader to artillery units which usually do not substain frequent Attacks.simcc wrote:For my leaders here is how I attached them.

Of course, I could be completely wrong on what is the right way to use leaders, that is why I would be glad if someone informed could clarify this point.
