I tried my hand at making a scenario in the editor and I'm not sure what I may have done wrong. It was really just a way to test units and make a nice looking map.
Anyway my problem is that the AI won't move units and my units won't fire. I know I probably missed something but I feel like I'm beating my head against the wall.
I tried to upload the scenario but it said that "The extension scz is not allowed."
SP scenario (editor) won't work?

Re: SP scenario (editor) won't work?
There are 3 steps to get the AI to work (hope I haven't forgotten anything...)
1) Set up a faction/nation as AI controlled in Alliances.
2) Create tasks for AI Teams.
3) Assign units to AI Teams.
You can do complicated stuff with triggers/events (the official scenarios have plenty of this).
But you should be able to test stuff without using triggers/events.
Hope this helps

Re: SP scenario (editor) won't work?
Erik thank you sir. I guess I have to get more detailed with their tasks. Currently I have 3 AI teams, 1 is ground units and they're set to static defense. 2 is naval units and they're set to Naval Seek & Destroy and I picked all ship types and aircraft for targets. 3 is aircraft I have them on Seek & Destroy with the added targets of Arty, Tanks and, infantry.
Is there a way I can upload my scenario so you could look at it? I've also downloaded all your posted SP scenarios. So far I've played Tarawa and am about half way through Iwo Jima, very nice stuff I must say. I was thinking about looking at the AI setup in the editor but they are far more complex than what I need for a starter scenario.

Re: SP scenario (editor) won't work?
Zip the folder and use the 'Upload attachment' (below this message area).
There's a limit on file size, but a scenario zip is usually small enough to slip through.
I just tested that on of my scenarios at 222KB loaded fine.
Generally, I try to spread the AI units on as many AI Teams as possible. It seems to help the AI.
BTW, if your ground units are set to static defense they will not move AFAIK.

Re: SP scenario (editor) won't work?
Hey Erik, I just finished playing Iwo Jima. I just thought you should know I was only able to secure 2 primary and 2 secondary objectives although in reality I secured the entire island. Not sure what could be causing this as I checked in the editor to see how the objectives are met. Just thought you would want to know.

Found a couple of trigger/effect errors. Fixed and uploaded new version.Decaff wrote:Hey Erik, I just finished playing Iwo Jima. Thanks for reporting!
And congratulations on completing the beast
Re: SP scenario (editor) won't work?
1) Under Alliances you only need to set up one AI player. There are no factions/nations linked to AI-2 and AI-3 anyway, so these can be removed.Decaff wrote:Here ya go.
There's no need for Team setting 1-2-3, this is used for linking human players to the same team. This has nothing to do with the AI Setup in the rightmost tab
2) The main problem is that the 'top' Imperial Japan is linked to AI-1. All your units are linked to the other Imperial Japan further down the list.
So the AI player has no units.
3) If you want the human player to be able to deploy units during the game, you need to set the number of turns this should be possible.
For instance 70 in Your 70-turn game. You can set different number of turns for different deployment hexes (I have not tried this though).
You must set the number of turns before you place a deployment hex. That may mean redoing all deployment (been there, done that...)
4) The AI player are set up with no resources, this means no AI repair of units. But that of course, that may be Your intention.
The Resources and Command Points number are pretty high, you can buy a lot (and I mean a lot
But this you can of course adjust after some test playing.
5) Under Settings you can uncheck 'Teams share victory points' since you have only one human player.
I have attached a 'fixed' scenario version.
Looks like a fun one

Re: SP scenario (editor) won't work?
Eirk thank you so much! If you want to take and use this scenario in any way, please do so. I should have made it bigger (more space between islands mainly). I would love to see a larger campaign from Slitherine. I'm assuming that you are familiar with the General series from SSI but the campaign from Pacific general was very good. I find OOB:P to be lacking on content, although I love the game mechanics it just is missing a few things for me. Certain units and maps also a more simplistic AI would be nice so you could easily play either side of a scenario.
If in the future if there is anything that I could help you with please do not hesitate to ask me. And again thank you!
