Bataan (Japanese Campaign): Corregidor bonus

Post by Longasc »

1.) Has anyone tried taking the small 3 tile Island of Corregidor, too?
Because I really wonder how to do that. Cannot even drop paratroopers on Corregidor, all tiles are full. Gun battery, bunker, heavy infantry. Wow...!

2.) Do reinforcements pop up during the scenario, I remember a Japanese attack from the sea while playing as American.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. You might save some of my pixels! :)

Corregidor with air force, artillery and light cruiser, which also comes as the American Missin, attack the bunker and then translate a unit from the port. So pretty easy to solve
If you find mistakes may keep them or send to Google, the Google there are errors

Your artillery can bombard Corregidor from the mainland, which helps. Bear in mind that the game will end if you complete all the primary objectives.

The coastal batteries funnily seem way more effective when you are on the receiving end, more than I felt they were in the US campaign... :)

How did you approach them, did you bomb them early on with dive bombers, ignoring the (albeit small) flak next to it or did you wait till your artillery was in range, too, to surpress the flak or shell the battery?
Please don't be confused, I am talking about the mainland Bataan battery now. Corregidor has no flak, so that might be easier.

1. In turn when the transport ships arrives ,,I bought two destroyers. I used these destroyers to destroy first GUN located on land. In the same time I sent 2 TACTICAL BOMBERs to destroy GUN on CORREGIDOR island ..So AA FLAK near the first gun is useless :)...one time I have tu use TACTICAL BOMBER to faster finish GUN on land...(after destroying GUN on CORREGIDOR island)
2. And I finished to destroy the bunker and the infantry on CORREGIDOR island by my guns from the COAST..
3. I did not manage to destroy the entire infantry units on Corregidor but they had only 4 strength (by my fire storm from the guns)..So my unit can land on CORREGIDOR island safely

I waited attacking till my eastern group managed to take out the flak and rolled them up. Then I attacked with dive bombers, who in the meantime already had taken out Corregidor's battery.

Was much easier than I thought, especially the eastern approach path was very easy once the fortress battery in the center of the island was taken!

Thanks for your advice! :!:

I use 2 kanbaku and 2 Hamaki for that scenario. 2 Hamaki can suppress any small AA except the AA near the fort, after suppress your kanbaku can finish off the AA in 2 turns bombing. So I use my kanbaku to clear the small island the south fortress and also the left side arty area and last but not least the 2 gunboats. Hamaki work wonders just the issue that the are too few lnd airfield for IJ to fully show their ability.
