What is a battle wagon and where can I get one?

Hello all, new guy question.

I read in the rule book about battle wagons. I've done quite a bit of research online and have found alot of fantasy and sci-fi references, but absolutely nothing about ancient ones. Are they something you have to fabricate yourself? If not, who sells them? What's appropriate for a period such as Late Republican Rome? Better yet, can someone post a picture to lead me in? I haven't seen anyone reference them in postings or AARs for FoG.

The Hussites had them, possibly some other late medieval Eastern Europeans. Here are some links to info, pics, and models of Hussite battle wagons:

I am sure that several other 25mm and 15mm miniatures manufacturers do, as well.

No battle wagons for Late Republican Romans or other ancients, I am afraid.

Thanks a lot, you validated some of my suspicions and cleared up the issue quite a bit.

I've read de Bello Gallico 4-5 times and can't remember Caesar ever mentioning a battle wagon. My initial thought was that possibly it was something wargaming specific that every army seems to have regardless of period.

Comparable example, at least in my eyes, would be how, if you believe the frequency of posts and pictures, every army in history seems to have war elephants as a basic component. This would lead one to believe that a) elephants were evidently more prolific than the horse throughout the world and b) elephants should be expected to dismount from viking longboats. Neither of which is obviously the case.

Good to see that battle wagons aren't necessarily forced in there (either formally or informally).

I've 6 in my Indian army - Museum Minitaures. They look really cool and are fun to have but I've not yet found the best way of using them!

So in Immortal Fire these are classified as battlewagons? Given their size, bulk and function as fighting platforms, I guess that makes good historical sense.

No that is, I believe, light artillery.

Yes, in FoG the cheiroballistra would be classified as Light Artillery.
