Commanders - How Many, Which, When & Where?

Post by rkr1958 »

1. When play the axis, how many commanders do you build? Which ones do you build? When do you build them? Where do you use them?

2. As the allies, the same questions.

As the Axis I try to have at least two (or 3 like in my current game) on the Russian front and one in France. Sometimes I get one also one Italian general for the Italian army in Africa.

As the Allies, I found them difficult to get as the Russian, since you are very hard pressed by the Axis and you need every troop available. As the Western Allies, I usually have one American and one British in France and sometimes another British in Italy.

That's about how my typical game breaks out. I like to have a three German commanders on the Russia fronts simulating Army Group North, Center & South and one German on the western front for Fortress Europa. I generally build one USA and one UK and one Italian for the med. I generally don't have the resources to build one for the Russians.
