I recommended the game and well, got asked if the rest of the game is a buggy mess, too.
Why? How comes?
Start out as Japan, play till the 2nd scenario, then get a plot/game stopper bug with this Burma-popup.
I showed how to fix it manually, but got asked, and I really have to agree there, if it is so easy to fix why is there no emergency patch yet?
It does not matter that I say this is a pretty good game, and it is.
Not everyone reads or wants to read this forum just to fix the game and continue playing.
This can lead to pretty negative press and while OoBPac is really good, it is also quite unknown and such negative experiences/reports can be harmful.
I must say, I have to agree, unfortunately.
I have not yet started the Japanese Campaign yet, also kinda waiting for possible new features like the camo-stuff in the next patch.

Re: ETA next patch?
I have noticed the devs haven't been as active in commenting lately. Hopefully a new patch is around the corner. It is surprising there wasn't a hotfix for the pop-up issues.
I remember the devs were super active, fixing issues left and right. I remember how they even coded an option to turn off the spinning flags just based on the request of one guy. Hopefully they are just hard at work on the various things that many people have reported.

Re: ETA next patch?
Dave mentioned the next patch in the support forum. No ETA yet though. There's also the Mac beta underway currently, which keeps people busy.
Re: ETA next patch?
Because we can't do a new patch every couple of weeks we wanted to time the next patch with the Mac version release. The latter requires a PC version update to keep both versions compatible.
To deal with easy-to-fix issues more effectively like the Burma popup bug we've also moved the news popup you get when logging into MP to the main menu. This way we can inform players about hotfixes effectively without having to put it through Slitherine's patch production cycle.

Re: ETA next patch?
Thanks for the quick fix, just read about the update to fix this particular issue!
I showed it as example of developers really listening. Because you know, all say they are listening, but acting accordingly... that is really rare and has class! Thumbs up!

Re: ETA next patch?
I agree, I've been very happy with the quick feedback and fix for a particularly killer problem. I would like to see in the next patch or two: 1.) roads negating terrain (not much point in a road if you slog through one hex at a time), and 2.) those great reinforcements/starting units you may get can't be upgraded to have transport -- this may be realistic, but in effect you often can't use said troops unless they can survive a very long boat ride to their destination.
