Let's be realistic. The game was released almost 4 years ago and during that time got (major) patched, it saw the Grand Campaign and some big expansions. In a fast moving game landscape, it can be said that PzC is already an "old" game.
It has been written several times that Soviet Corps is foreseen for 2015, alongside another PzC release. Pacific Corps would require a lot of new stuff, i doubt very much such a development for PzC; there is Order of Battle: Pacific instead.

But i dont know how much of a success this game was originally?.
I wonder that myself how successful the series has been. I go way back to when people stood in line all night to get the latest software or game. (Not me, but I'm older, I guess.) I don't think PG got the buzz that Civ or Tycoon or Sim City got. I put PG more like the Caesar series, which were really good, but not all-time hits. I think PG was worthy of it, but perhaps it was the subject matter. A great time for wargamers, but not so much for human history. They can't even use the symbol of Germany at that time, with good reason, so the game was a bit handicapped.

I'm even less sure there is a need. I don't play many games anymore, but this is about as good as a turn-based game gets. There aren't many changes I'd suggest. However...

In defense of a PC 2, I'd like to see it in a few years growing with technology. Surely there are improved graphics and algorithms in our future that would make the game even deeper and more enjoyable. Gameplay would become even better as the AI improves. I'd like to see it sometime, but the game is awfully good now. But then...

The wife and I are thinking of buying a Nintendo off Ebay just to play Super Mario Brothers 2. We are strange.

Visibility Bonuses/Penalties for Terrain

Post by charliedoom »

I think adding visibility bonuses and penalties for terrain might be an interesting addition.

Hills + Mountains = Visibility range +1
Valleys + Forests = Visibility range -1

Similar to the effect fog and bad weather have on visibility.

Most of the other suggestions sound great too.

Great suggestion. I had thought how cool it would be if moving a recon onto a hill would increase visibility, but could see not only visibility with your suggestion, but also increase range. A nice 150mm sitting on a mountain should be able to hit targets way out there. Too bad there won't be any more updates. Some of the suggestions are very cool.

One of the things I would really like to have is a way to scroll through the battle history of each unit, click on an arrow to the next unit. It's a pain as it is now, too many clicks and menu returns, but that's a very, very minor quibble. Still a great game, although I might have to re-evaluate after Stalingrad. Lots of enemy tanks, and they are beasts. No way I can have any confidence of a DV. Just too tough.

I would like for the hero bonuses to be displayed in the on-screen stats, rather than having to click into the unit detail to see them. I just rename any of my units who get heroes so that I can easily tell. Some other things I would like to see in PzC2 are:
- ROF displayed.
- Traits displayed or at least visible if you click into the units detail.
- Better graphics and animations (this might make it harder for modders, but I like eye candy!).
- Different mechanics for AA, based on the caliber of the AA. So the large AA guns would be better against level bombers, but less useful against low flying fighters and vice versa.
- Towed AT guns improved somehow.
- Artillery nerfed a bit.

Here's hoping they release PzC2 sometime in the future.

+1 to all these.

Order of Battle Pacific looks like moving into that direction with most of these being introduced. So I think it is reasonable to expect that PzC2 will have them as well, if it ever gets a green light.

But for now I would be even more happier if hero modifiers, ROF and unit traits would be displayed in PzC after its coming patch with Soviet Corps. I do not think it would be very hard to add them to the UI.

I think that it is quite likely that PzC 2 will be released on OOB's engine, which is certainly a major improvement. But then you won't be seeing me modding nearly as much as I'm rubbish at 3d stuff. But there are always going to be people who convert mods (niki converted mods from PG + PG2 to PzC)

I also like the idea of modifying AA a bit - I find it useless until the 12.8 comes along, and it was decently powerful in 1940 and 1941 so this should be represented in game. (OK, WWI AA is trash, but it was in reality)
