Spawn unit location

If the hex is occupied, will it deploy in a neighbouring hex or wait a later turn until the original hex is free?

Adjacent hex. If not valid hex is found the unit will not spawn.

Looks like there is no way to assign a spawned unit to an AI team?
That looks like an oversight.

If land hex is chosen for target hex unit will spawn on adjacent free land hex if target hex is taken. If sea hex is chosen as target hex unit will spawn on adjacent free sea hex if target hex is taken.

Editor does not take into account can unit move on the hex where it is spawn giving some unwanted situations like tanks spawned on mountains, capital ships spawned at shallow water or even naval vessels being spawned on land hexes with ability to enter sea if hex is adjacent to it (good for simulating shipbuilding!). But although this situations can be circumvented with design decisions problem appears with aircraft. There is no "air" target hex so if their target hex is taken by other air unit it will spawn on adjacent free hex of the same surface type as target hex. If target hex is land hex and an island above which other plane is hovering unit will not spawn. So I suggest this rule to be changed for aircraft so they can spawn in certain radius regardless of terrain type.

Land units spawned on sea come with naval transport as they should so this is fine.
