Lost Saved Games???

Hello,

I am a newer player since Dec 2014 and my computer pooped on me this weekend.
The person we had work on our computer ended up needing to reboot the whole thing.
When I downloaded the game off Steam again it showed all my saved games and replays gone.
I still have all my multiplayer games in progress on there, thank God, but I was doing a blind play through of the Grand Campaign.
Is that just gone? No hope of recovery?
Is there anyway to avoid that in the future if my computer poops on me again?
I was so enjoying doing a blind play through and had just started GC 42 with some 50 units and 6000 prestige so not the greatest army but fun as a difficult first time through.

The saved games are stored on:
...\Documents\My Games\Panzer Corps\Save

You need to backup them , just like any other document, before reinstalling Windows.
