Re: Eastern Front: Soviet Storm 1.1 (NEW ANNOUNCEMENT)
Shoot I never noticed the biplanes were switchable. They "may" be able to get into battle in 3 turns. Can't use them down south against the Nashorns due to the 2 88 flak there. Need a rain turn to move them in.
I guess if I can hold what I have I'll get a MV which is better than what happened historically.
- edit. Attacked one Nashorn with 4 rebuilt armored units. Lost a total of 28 points to take out a 12 strength unit. Artillery suppression was tried but non-effective. Too many losses. Will probably reload and try and draw them away from the flak cover. Then the girls can strut their stuff. I tried using Nashorns in vanilla PC but I found they were very fragile. I was surprised they performed so well here.

Wow, and I didn´t change any equipment values for them... unless they are SS units.

Re: Eastern Front: Soviet Storm 1.1 (NEW ANNOUNCEMENT)
I eventually did manage a DV. Only because the AI moved tanks into forest, hills and towns allowing my infantry to wipe them out. And finally got some good attacks in from artillery and ground attack. I would get suppressed tanks to retreat into forest or hills and again use infantry to wipe them out. That's really the only strategy that works well for me against the heavy German tanks. I try and bait them next to a forest or hills then get them to retreat where my infantry has the advantage. Nail biting for sure. Definitely a challenge.

Hi Uzbek,
Yes I made that mistake also. You must put Siberian units in all hexes marked A. Not necessarily ski units but any Siberian reinforcement will work. By the way the city hexes DO NOT count (that was my mistake I thought the city would also count). Only the hexes outside the city actually marked A.

Re: Eastern Front: Soviet Storm 1.1 (NEW ANNOUNCEMENT)
Look well the terrain around Mozhaysk, maybe some hex "A" is not clearly visible.
Regarding the Great Patriotic War scenario, I started to place some units:
In Ukraine, we can see some Stalin Line fortifications, maybe the player can take advantage of it:

In the Karelian Front the Finnish are preparing their offensive:

A peaceful Moscow:

Right now I am placing the Soviet naval units at the Northern, Baltic and Black Sea Fleets. In this scenario the naval war is going to be critical.

Hi uzbek, indeed Sevastopol is a hard one. I never tested it at Marshal difficulty!, so I don´t know what to suggest
I kindly ask you to reduce the amount of screenshots per post, mainly because two reasons: 1) They make the thread hard to follow for all the people and 2) They contain a lot of spoilers. Maybe you could post two per AAR?.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

Re: Eastern Front: Soviet Storm 1.1 (NEW ANNOUNCEMENT)
****Spoilers below*******
What I did was to buy aux units at every city near the front line then buy some more. Mostly AT but a few riflemen also. I probably burned 5000 prestige to delay the Germans long enough for my units to arrive at the front. Also my forts held out fairly long. May have just been lucky. One thing I did not like was the units that landed at the far southern zone had to move through the southern Gorky and the trenches held up my tanks for another 2-3 turns.
I eventually won by swinging tanks a bit south over the river and coming back into the last victory city from the southeast. There was only an artillery there and taking it on the last turn meant the tanks from the north couldn't react. Since I had destroyed the German planes I scouted very well ahead of my forces and knew where the German units were.
I destroyed the planes by setting up a flak trap. The Italian MB will set up an observation post. Just put a good unit right at the edge of his spotting range. Germans came to attack and I had 3 flak waiting. Did that twice and destroyed half of the fighters. What I did for the rest was to use my strategic bomber to hit the close airfield and turn it back neutral. As there was only an artillery there it would not turn back German and the AI lost 3 units. I watched the fuel status and did this when the German fighters were low enough on fuel they couldn't get anywhere else.
Hope this helps.

Re: Eastern Front: Soviet Storm 1.1 (NEW ANNOUNCEMENT)
Hm.. Isn't that a Finnish BT-42 in the left of that screenshot? If I am right it was first used in 1943 only.Akkula wrote:In the Karelian Front the Finnish are preparing their offensive:

Other than that I really like those screeshots, thank you for showing Moscow, too.
Also, in one of those "spoiler"

You know, for some reason it just does not look right to see tanks and trucks crossing a lake which is not frozen unless they are amphibious.

Re: Eastern Front: Soviet Storm 1.1 (NEW ANNOUNCEMENT)
I was watching some old documentary footage a few months back that showed the convoys travelling across the lake through a fair depth of water. Being from a relatively warm place, it looked very strange to me as I'm not used to the concept of frozen lakes with a melted top!McGuba wrote:You know, for some reason it just does not look right to see tanks and trucks crossing a lake which is not frozen unless they are amphibious
Re: Eastern Front: Soviet Storm 1.1 (NEW ANNOUNCEMENT)
Actually Guille donated me a fantastic frozen lake set (I think I posted some screenshots early in the thread). The problem is that it changes ALL the water tilesets, so in a scenario containing sea hex you would see a gigantic frozen mass of water.McGuba wrote:Hm.. Also, in one of those "spoiler"screenshots of our friend uzbek, I saw some trucks crossing the Lake Ladoga near Leningrad. Would it not be possible to make that lake frozen? Someone (maybe guillle? not sure) has made frozen lake tile sets which could be used in that scenario. Or maybe you could just mask some frozen background tiles over the lake ones. Somehow like this:
You know, for some reason it just does not look right to see tanks and trucks crossing a lake which is not frozen unless they are amphibious.
I am about to try to fix this issue with some kind of "frozen lake road", for both my standard mod and the upcoming big scenario, its no that easy, I suck at image editing

Thanks for your comments Mcguba, I hope the upcoming updates from my new project fulfill your expectations.

Re: Eastern Front: Soviet Storm 1.1 (NEW ANNOUNCEMENT)
OK, I will remove the BT-42 from Barbarossa, it seems I miss that detail (I will fix the campaign too)
Ive been working in the Road Of Life (just for the big scenario for now):

This is a very FIRST raw version, I expect to improve it a little bit. Please give me your opinions friends.
Best regards.

Uzbek... Too many screenshots. You make my computer lag when trying to bring them up
Perhaps a better idea would be to start a thread in the AAR section and put a link on this forum?
- BNC (I know that I've been a little slow with my AAR, but I would like to finish WWI v3 by the end of this month... something that will be difficult without a few more icons

Old Timer Panzer General fan. Maybe a Volksturm soldier now. Did they let Volksturm drive Panzers?
