Outflanking support and defensive fire support

Post by apec »

I wonder which is the contribution to the combat result.
- Is this a fixed value or depends on the support unit statistics?
- does it add to the attacking unit or subtract to the defending unit stats?
- is it worth having more than one support unit?

Thank you in advance for clarifications :)

It reduces the strength of the defender in the combat calculation, meaning they'll mostly deal less damage. This represents that a part of the available strength has to be kept in reserve to cover the flanks.

The strength of the bonus is based on the combat prognosis between the defender and the outflanking unit. So a 1 strength Seabees unit will not be as effective as a 10 strength Sherman tank.

You also get a stronger bonus if at least one supporter is on the opposite hex (complete outflank) or when supported for 2 different outflanking units where none of these are adjacent to eachother (= attack from every direction).

thanks adherbal,
so in the end the more and stronger the outflanking units the less the defending unit will strike back. I am also wondering what is the maximum effect you can get with flanking e.g. defending units doing 20%, 50% or less damage ?

A maximum of 30% of the defenders strength can be "pinned down" by outflanking.
