Scythe Chariots

So if the SCh route as a result of the impact phase or even shooting alone when do they get removed or can they be rallied?! Since they are not in contact with enemy they are not removed in the JAP if there are enough bases left in the BG.
Seems a bit odd if they could be rallied as the drivers, I thought, tended to jump off when it got a bit out of control

I believe that you can attach a general and attempt to rally the chariots. They do not get removed in the JAP phase when you rout them from shooting and/or a charge when they are fragmented and fail the roll. Someone better placed could correct me if I am wrong.

Last night watched my friend once again make the big mistake and allow Scychariots to charge his legions uncontested. He was luckier this time as the dice rolls were so bad for the Scythes.

Scythed chariots are removed if they are destroyed by combat or in the JAP if they end up still in front edge (I presume their own front edge) contact with an unbroken enemy etc (p120/121), or when they break/autobreak.

A commander can be attached to a BG of SCh in their charge, impact and melee and provide his bonus, so I guess he can also attach himself in the JAP and help them rally from rout! As you say, I think a lot of the crew will often have bailed out, so the commander rallying the SCh is acting as an advanced horse whisperer! I guess he then recrews the chariots with willing volunteers?

However, once rallied, even if you get them back to steady status, the chances are they'll be facing the wrong way and possibly be in the wrong place. They can't do a 180 or 90 turn, so willl have to wheel right round to charge again, by which time the enemy will be on them, if it's still relevant to the battle to do so!

On balance, much better not to waste commander ability on them once they've failed in their first charge. After all, they're not going to count against you in any way, so clear a path and let 'em run/gallop off...
